GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: To perform machining tasks as directed by their supervisor utilizing the CNC Vertical Milling Center (main responsibility), Bridgeport Mill, Engine Lathe and CNC Lathe as well as other Machine Shop support equipment (i.e. grinder, belt sander, cold saw, etc.). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The duties and responsibilities listed below apply to all levels of CNC Machinists. Each level of CNC Machinist has additional duties and responsibilities listed. Updates set-up and tooling sheets as required, maintaining the VMC logbook for shift turnover, documenting travelers and Discrepant Materials Report (DMR). Supports and exhibits the focus of zero defects as well as right-the-first-time attitude. Inspects work utilizing basic inspection equipment (calipers, micrometers, depth gage, etc.). Provides suggestions or advice to maximize the efficiency of Machine Shop. Maintains a clean work area and ensures strict adherence to the 5S Standards. Accurately adjusts machine settings to complete tasks according to specifications. Uses various machine shop support equipment including Saws, Belt Sanders, Grinders, Overhead Cranes and Drill Press. Follows FOD (foreign object prevention) practices. Complies with established safety directives. Complies with established QMS procedures. Other duties may be assigned.
