Responsibilities * Operates machine tools to include lathes, milling machines, grinders, swages and bending machines in accordance with training and safety procedures. * Reads blueprints or job orders to obtain product specifications (dimensions and tolerances) and tooling instructions (fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and cutting tools). * Applies knowledge of machining methods. * Positions and secures work pieces to holding devices, machine tables, chucks, centers or fixtures using clamps and wrenches. * Sets specified feeds, speeds and depth of cut in accordance with product specifications and tooling instructions. * Observes operation and verifies conformance of machined work pieces to specifications using measuring instruments such as fixed gauges, calipers, comparators and micrometers. * Maintains tools, gauges and equipment in a clean, safe and orderly manner. * Consults management to analyze product information to include product design capacity, purpose, and type of materials to be used in fabrication or to analyze written specifications, drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions to plan layouts and determine sequences of operations. * Adheres to established policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations & notifies management of equipment malfunctions and/or personal injuries. * Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly, and safe manner to include returning tools to designated areas. * Other general duties as directed. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED: * Minimum of 5 years experience as a Toolmaker or in a similar capacity within a manufacturing setting. * Knowledge of and liability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings. * Tool and die maker ability to read tool and die designs and prints. * Tool and die maker basic shop math and trigonometry. * Tool and die maker ability to use precise measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, etc. * Tool and die maker ability to operate all standard tool room equipment such as milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, lathes, and must be able to write programs for the CNC machines. * Tool and die maker must have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. * Tool and die maker able to work independently and be self-motivated. * Tool and die maker must be able to work without supervision. * Tool and die maker ability to communicate well with others. * Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. * US citizenship required. * This position requires attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
