Currently, we are seeking a dedicated Warehouse Associate to join our team. In this role, your primary responsibility will be operating production equipment, either a Rim Drive or a Respooler that assists in cutting wire to a predetermined length. Besides cutting wire, an associate could also be asked to perform other standard order fulfillment tasks.
Warehouse Associate Job Responsibilities:
- Material Handling Equipment (MHE): Operating a forklift/order picker for pulling and putting away stock, order processing, loading and unloading trailers.
- Receiving: Inspect inbound stock for quality, count, and type. Ensure purchase order, packing slip and bill of lading for receipt accuracy; Process stock through computer entry while preparing inventory for put-away.
- Shipping: Select shipping method based on best practices to meet company requirements and customer expectations; Prepare orders for both LTL and small parcel shipment; Verify shipments are packed properly and accurately to ensure customer satisfaction
- Value-Add services: Operate different value adding wire machinery within the DC for order fulfillment. Typical equipment used includes stripe/dye machines, wire stripper, twister and lashing equipment.
- General Housekeeping & Equipment Maintenance: Follow safety standards for the specific job including filling out required equipment checklists; Responsible for keeping Distribution Center clean and organized; Follow strict adherence to 5S Standards of the work area

NGK Spark Plugs is now hiring full-time Material Handlers & Warehouse Associates for our warehouse in Wood Dale, IL . We have openings on both 2nd and 3rd shift positions. Regular working hours are above, though overtime opportunities will be available. The workday can be between 8-10 hours each day based on business needs. OT pay is time and a half for over 40 hours in a week. There is also a .40 shift premium for working the 2nd shift, and a .50 shift premium for working the 3rd shift.

Essential Duties:
- Pick/pack customer orders daily and other materials requested by Headquarters, Sales Offices, etc.
- Ensure correct materials are selected and scanned for each order.
- Prepare products for shipments and apply custom labels as needed.
- Check all outgoing shipments to customers and stock transfers.
- Receive finished goods and check for any discrepancies or damages.
- Loading/unloading of shipments.
- Sort, stage, and place materials or items on racks or bins according to the procedure.
- Perform restocking products in the warehouse.
- Assist with our periodic physical inventory count.
- Operate hand pallet jack and powered industrial trucks safely and responsibly.

What will you be doing as a Warehouse Associate:
- Handle the processing of incoming orders from suppliers
- Meet deadlines and schedules for routine procedures and deliveries.
- Handle shipping/receiving activity including, but not limited to UPS, auto freight, “will call,” store-to-store transfers and LTL shipments.

- Preferred: Experience or knowledge of material handling a warehouse and/or distribution facility of a HVAC or related field.
- Preferred: Knowledge of HVAC wholesale industry, principles and practices.
- Experience in inventory and materials control procedures.
- Must be a highly organized, detailed person who can monitor numerous projects at once and who can prioritize workload.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with coworkers of varying education levels.
- The sense of sight, speech (English), and hearing are required. Must possess excellent verbal, math and written communication skills.
