VHB has an immediate need for a Geomatics/Survey Data Tech to join our Geomatics/Survey team in Raleigh, NC.

Responsibilities
Defines project parameters and appropriate data collection methods. Completes survey field data review and post-processing activities.
Performs and assists in calculations, data collection, upload processes, data compilation, drafting and preparation of project deliverables using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center and ESRI software platforms.
QA/QC and processes information received from field and outside sources.
Coordinates the necessary activities with the field supervisor and mapping specialists to clarify or request additional data to implement total project scope and VHB policies.
Ensures that project tasks have been completed, processed, reviewed, and delivered per project requirements and parameters.
Assists project managers with planning field tasks, maintaining schedule, and reporting project progress.
Implements and adheres to VHB's data integrity policies, administrative procedures, quality control, and safety/hazard guidelines.
Participates in professional and personal development aligned with career goals.
Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and VHB policies and procedures.
Skills and Attributes
Solid knowledge of geomatics/survey mathematics, field procedure, and data collection principles, practices, methods, and procedures.
Knowledge and experience to support technical, survey, reality capture, and mapping calculations.
Thorough working knowledge of industry standard geomatics/survey equipment (e.g., conventional survey equipment, GPS equipment, reality capture equipment) with the ability to adapt to new equipment and emerging technologies.
Proficient in reading and understanding engineering, architectural and structural drawings.
Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Team-oriented with ability to work independently.
Detail- and task-oriented.
Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Skills and knowledge must be commensurate with required experience and job level.
Qualifications
4+ years of geomatics experience, whether through coursework or professional experience. Increasing responsibilities preferred.
High school diploma or GED
Associates degree in Land Surveying or other related Land Development Science preferred
Proficient with industry standard software associated with surveying and reality capture. Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil3D, Trimble Business Center, ESRI, ArcGIS, MicroStation and ArcPro software preferred.
Experience in coordinating geomatics/survey projects, including setting up crews and equipment
Experience in collecting, post-processing, and resolving data discrepancies as it relates to conventional, GPS, and reality capture methodologies
Valid driver's license

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a team of traffic signal designers, ensuring high-quality, efficient designs that meet client specifications and project goals.
Develop and oversee the design of traffic signal systems, including intersection warrants, signal integration, and advanced signal technology for both public and private sector clients.
Manage projects for new residential developments, state/local government, and institutional clients, ensuring timely delivery and regulatory compliance.
Oversee the design and integration of NCDOT traffic signal systems and components (such as Type 170, Type 179, 2070, NEMA TS1, NEMA TS2, and ATC platforms).

Support the development of traffic signal plans and specifications, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal standards.

Skills & Knowledge:
Strong preference given to candidates with extensive NCDOT experience, standards and processes.
Strong proficiency in traffic signal design, warrant analysis, and system integration.
Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, Synchro, and other relevant design and analysis software. OpenRoads is a plus.
Ability to develop, review, and update technical specifications and design documents for traffic signal systems and related technology.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (or equivalent related field), master's degree preferred.
8-11+ years of experience in traffic signal design or a related transportation field.
PE License required.
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel on occasion.
