This position is a part of Mueller's Development Program (MDP). The program is 2 years in duration (may vary based on employee's start date), and consists of rotational experiences, formal mentorship, and a standardized training curriculum; all of which are designed to provide a broad range of experiences in various facets to accelerate development in desired function. Rotation location will be assigned based on business need and career aspirations.

Job Description
Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Electronics engineering team is rapidly growing to support the development of Flight Termination Systems and Tactical electronics in support of Space & Defense applications. EBAD seeks a Mechanical Engineer for a position, reporting to the Electrical Product Development Lead.

Responsibilities:

Mechanical Engineer will work directly with other engineers, technicians, managers, and production personnel.Will perform detailed mechanical design/analysis, prototyping, and a variety of troubleshooting efforts. Will be responsible for advancing and improving the mechanical technology used in our products.Utilize working and analytical knowledge of various mechanical engineering techniques associated with form, fit, and function in specified operational environments.Regular communication with other engineers and technicians is necessary to promote a close-knit, flexible, and highly adaptive engineering team. Should have and use a basic understanding of electrical applications to ensure mechanical designs are suitable for product integration.This position is in Simsbury, CT.

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a BS/MS in an engineering discipline (mechanical preferred) and a minimum of 4 years of experience in product design of defense and/or aerospace products.Demonstrated experience generating 3D solid models & 2D drawings (SolidWorks preferred) Capable of applying GD&T, ASME/ANSI standards and understanding how it effects part cost and manufacturing Have working knowledge and understanding of tolerance analysis/studies Tooling and Fixturing design Expertise in Electronic packing design, Mechanical design development of Electromechanical products while managing constraints in space, time, cost, manufacturing, structural integrity, and thermal loads Electrical Connector selection and design Cable harness design or section Materials selection and process specification Ability to apply customer requirements and government/military specifications to new product designs Experience with using Production Preparation Process (3P) Lean principles Interact with suppliers to rapid prototype parts for risk reduction and prototype testing Demonstrated competency in problem solving and root cause analysis Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for interaction with various levels of management and customers

What We Are Looking For

Located at our state-of-the-art Jack. E. Caveney Innovation Center facility, the Mechanical Engineer - Product R&D will join a collaborative team that develops new products and sustains existing products focused on infrastructure products.

You will perform complex engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks. This includes problem solving, preparing CAD models and building prototypes, conducting experiments, analysis, design and development of products (ranging from fiber connectivity products to network infrastructure) and ability to implement for mass production.

What You Will Do

Collaborate with more experienced engineers and coordinates cross-functionally to accomplish assigned tasks and builds working relationships internally and externally.Perform engineering activities by following defined processes, procedures, and instructions.Conduct technical investigations to identify and prioritize work to meet assignment expectations, develop test plans working with mentor and review results with the team.Originate evaluates and develops formal project requests and manage technical projects with limited scope or phases of a more complex technical project.Prepare reports, graphs, planning layouts, and summaries designed to communicate project progress or results.Identify, investigate, and resolve routine and non-routine issues and escalates problems and roadblocks as they occur Analyze and create technical documentation and compiles test records and documentation.

What You Will Bring
Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required1-4 years of Product Engineer experience Fiber connector design experience a plus
