The Merchandise Processor is a very demanding position that requires the continuous lifting of up to 25 pounds. It requires steady, fast-paced work and focuses on the correct picking/packing of many items. Associates stand and walk for the duration of the shift. Selecting the correct product and the number of products to fulfill store needs is the focus of this position. The ability to match, count and verify products are needed skills. Attention to detail, basic counting, and reasoning skills are necessary.

The Merchandise Handler is responsible for handling full cases of product. The position includes the consistent lifting of cartons and merchandise. Merchandise Handlers may also receive the product into the distribution center, maintain case quantities for picking operations, and help palletize outbound products. This is a strenuous job that requires continuous lifting of up to 50 pounds.

A Shipping Associate / Outbound Loader is responsible for consistent loading of outbound merchandise, promotional store sets, and store supplies onto semi-trailers. Lift, stack, and load merchandise cartons onto and off conveyor lines, semi-trailers, pallets, etc. Loads cartons of up to 75 pounds 100% of working hours. Maintain and verify documentation and information to facilitate the flow of merchandise being loaded on and off the semi-trailer.

An Equipment Operator / High Lift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of power equipment including forklifts, standup forklifts, order or cherry pickers, or cranes. Equipment Operators move cartons, pallets, or other containers of the product within the distribution center. The position requires continuous standing, repetitive motion, lifting of up to 50 pounds and the associate may operate equipment at heights of 30 feet or more. This position requires steady, fast-paced, and accurate work and requires a motor vehicle record check. Attention to detail, basic counting, and reasoning skills are necessary.

Must possess the ability to:

• Comprehend and follow written, verbal and computer-delivered direction
• Utilize math skills to verify quantities and complete orders correctly.
• Solid attention to detail, ability to follow directions, and apply problem-solving skills.
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must be at least 18 years of age

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
To process donated and/or purchased merchandise for preparation for sale in order to meet preset production goals at our Special Projects department. The position works Monday-Friday 7am to 3:30pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Merchandise Processor is responsible for the following:

• Depending upon the production needs, the Merchandise Processor may be required to: sort by quality standards, clean hard-goods, and possibly price hard-goods, to meet preset production goals.
• Depending upon the production needs, the Merchandise Processor may be required to sort by quality standards all donated and purchased clothing/ linen, hang clothing/ linen, tag and/or size clothing/linen to meet preset production goals.
• Must be flexible day to day to move to different areas as assigned by their Manager or the Processing Coordinator to fulfill the needs of the processing center.
• Following all safety policies, asset protection policies and Team Member policies as outlined in the Team Member handbook, asset protection handbook and safety manual.
• Maintaining excellent attendance by not abusing sick or vacation time.
• Keep all work areas clean and safe while working and at the end of the day.
• Be aware of daily and weekly processing goals.
• Must be able to help fulfill all orders following the daily order forms, or the directions of Department Managers.
• Must understand and follow all quality standards. Seasonal chemical and food procedures are understood and followed.
• Capable of basic understanding/operation of conveyor systems, pricing machines and all safety issues that these incur.
• Ninety five percent of the duties are performed in a warehouse that has swamped coolers to regulate temperatures. Five percent of the duties involve being outside of the building.
• Other assignments from Management as needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Elementary school education is required, high school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be able to work in open warehouse environment being exposed in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold.
• Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions and to work as a team member.
• Be able to continuously perform repetitive work at a set pace.
• Must have the ability to learn the techniques of the job from short demonstration up to a period of one month.
• Must be fluent in English; bilingual a plus.
