Multi-modality technologist job description

+ This position is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the care plan provided by the nursing team. This position provides basic care and interventions to designated patient populations. This position supports the operations of the patient care units through tasks delegated by the RN and through tasks assigned within their scope of practice. This position requires providing services to one or more age populations, including neonate through geriatric, in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served. This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Blessing Hospital. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values while supporting the strategic plan, goals, and direction of the Performance Improvement Process and Patient Safety Plan at Blessing Hospital.

Job Summary:

Performs diagnostic radiological imaging, in more than a single Modality, that may include, CT (computerized tomography), MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), general radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Sonography, or Mammography depending on location of department. These procedures would be as directed by providers or radiologist providing timely and quality service to the patient. Follows Imaging Department policies to maintain a safe, efficient and economical environment. Interacts with patients to welcome, explain and respond to question and concerns during and following the procedure.

This position is part of an Alternative Weekend Program (Baylor) Work 12 hours, get paid for 18. Saturday and Sundays 7pm-7am


Job Description:


Principle Responsibilities
Completes procedure in compliance with physician orders and department guidelines Identifies patient with two identifiers. Documents accurately all needed aspects of the procedure. Observes and communicates with patient, responding to needs. Maintains safe patient environment in procedure area. Performs procedures with high degree of accuracy Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of all diagnostic equipment. Maintains work knowledge and competence. Gathers all relevant information to assist in interpretation of images. Verifies all imaging has appropriately transferred to imaging storage and retrieval system. Provides accurate clerical function Uses Excellian (electronic medical record). Understands the Enterprise Medical Imaging/Picture Archiving and Communication System. Ensures all documentation is complete post procedure. Communicates with supervisor and team Reports problems, issues or ideas. Provides assistance, ideas and information to support the work of others. Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements
Vocational or Technical Training graduate of accredited School of Radiologic Technology required 0 to 2 years experience in radiology and other modalities required Registered Technologist - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required registered upon hire or Registered Technologist - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required registry eligible, Computerized Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Sonography or Mammography upon hire and Registered Technologist - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required registered in Computerized Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine, Diagnostic Sonography or Mammography
depending on which Modalities are required in the position. within 180 Days BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required upon hire

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs routine and specialized imaging procedures in the application of the ionizing radiation in accordance with the established professional and departmental standards, policies and procedures to provide departmental patient care support up to a 24 hour basis in two modalities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

1. Performs all procedures in Radiology, as well as one or more modalities to include CT, Mammography and/or IR, in accordance to facility protocols and is current with all competencies needed to perform said protocols on a daily or as needed basis.
2. Able to establish, or are actively training to establish IV's in modalities that use intravenous content.
3. For modalities that use intravenous content, able to inject through and establish or create IV site by hand or power injector and successfully maintain site.
4. Performs all basic RIS, HIS and PACS functions.
5. Acts in accordance to and adheres to all Facility and Departmental policies.
6. Participates On Call and Rotating of shifts or facilities as assigned.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Be Successful:

Successful completion of a two-year AMA accredited school in Radiologic Technology. Current certification as a Registered Radiographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Current state of Maryland licensure as a Radiographer. Current CPR certification.
