JOB SUMMARY:
Use industrial machinery and tools to load, weld, grind, and measure steel to create tubes to our customers' specifications. Perform complete and partial changeovers as orders dictate. Use computer programs to print orders, bundle tags, consume slit coil tags and keep production records. Oversee mill operation and speed to ensure the highest quality tubing is achieved while adhering to safety and ISO standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Load slit coils on un-coiler turnstile using an overhead crane with c-hook attachment
Operate control panel on entry equipment of tube mill
Operate a mig-wire welder to butt weld steel strips to coil
Use an angle grinder to grind/flatten the butt weld before feeding into floop accumulator
Monitor mill speeds
Maintain shop floor orders, consume slit coil tags, print tube bundle tags
Perform quality checks by using micrometers, calipers, and plug gauges
Perform weld checks per ASTM 500 or 513 specs including flare and crush tests using a hydraulic press
Perform complete and partial changeovers which may entail changing rolls in each idler and driven pass, welding rolls in the weld box assembly, installing flash rod assembly, working coils in high frequency welder, using a micrometer to size each pass/stand on the tube mill
Use an O.D. scarf stand to remove the weld bead and empty the scarf winders or feed the O.D. scarf into the scarf chopper
Operate the mill console to balance the mill speed/load on multiple mill drives
Adjust weld power to the high frequency welder to maintain proper weld requirements.

JOB SUMMARY:
Use industrial machinery and tools to load, weld, grind, and measure steel to create tubes to our customers' specifications. Perform complete and partial changeovers as orders dictate. Use computer programs to print orders, bundle tags, consume slit coil tags and keep production records. Oversee mill operation and speed to ensure the highest quality tubing is achieved while adhering to safety and ISO standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Load slit coils on un-coiler turnstile using an overhead crane with c-hook attachment
Operate control panel on entry equipment of tube mill
Operate a mig-wire welder to butt weld steel strips to coil
Use an angle grinder to grind/flatten the butt weld before feeding into floop accumulator
Monitor mill speeds
Maintain shop floor orders, consume slit coil tags, print tube bundle tags
Perform quality checks by using micrometers, calipers, and plug gauges
Perform weld checks per ASTM 500 or 513 specs including flare and crush tests using a hydraulic press
Perform complete and partial changeovers which may entail changing rolls in each idler and driven pass, welding rolls in the weld box assembly, installing flash rod assembly, working coils in high frequency welder, using a micrometer to size each pass/stand on the tube mill
Use an O.D. scarf stand to remove the weld bead and empty the scarf winders or feed the O.D. scarf into the scarf chopper
Operate the mill console to balance the mill speed/load on multiple mill drives
Adjust weld power to the high frequency welder to maintain proper weld requirements.
OTHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Maintain regular and reliable attendance
Work cooperatively with others to ensure constructive and productive business relationships
Comply with all Company policies and procedures
Effectively utilize the JDE computerized system
