The Psychiatrist-MD will initiate and provide medical care for the patients. This critical important position will provide various services to ensure overall wellness and continuity of care to those whom the agency serve. The Psychiatrist-MD will also provide an array of CORE or other MRO Medicaid services to individuals according to the most recent FY Medicaid guidelines, policies and procedures, and NBT guidelines, policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
Active License by the Georgia Composite Board of Medical Examiners.
Graduate of medical or osteopathic college and a residency in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Current and active DEA Registration
Current malpractice insurance
Minimum of 1-year experience working with clientele suffering from MH/SA issues and their families a plus.
Part-time Contract position. Between 10 and 30 hours of availability per week
Duties Include:
Provide patients with psychiatric and clinical services consisting of diagnostic assessment, psychotropic medication management and documentation of all psychiatric encounters.
Consult with patient's family/caregiver about medical, nutritional and other health issues related to the individual's mental health or substance related issues.
Assessing and monitoring the patient's response to medication(s) to determine the need to continue medication and/or to determine the need to refer the patient to a physician for a medication review.
Maintain all requirements for professional licensing, certification and professional liability insurance.
Generate the initial medical or clinical diagnostic examination and follow-up medication management.
Agrees to sign an authorization for psychiatric and nursing services (Order of Services) provided by NBT and return within five (5) days.
Sign off on all laboratory testing and diagnostic procedures.
Call pharmacies for ordering prescriptions if necessary.
Supervise an APRN/NP.

Position Overview

Key Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and manage all co-worker health services in alignment with federal and state regulations.
Conduct health assessments for new hires, including drug testing, medical history review, lab work, chest X-rays (if indicated), and immunization verification.
Administer and monitor TB screening programs in compliance with state requirements.
Perform respirator fit testing and provide training as needed.
Promote and administer annual influenza and other vaccines, ensuring co-workers are informed about contraindications, side effects, and precautions.
Provide first aid and coordinate care for on-the-job injuries, working closely with departments to facilitate safe return-to-work plans.
May serve as Workers' Compensation coordinator, managing injury reporting, treatment facilitation, and compliance with state regulations.
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding health records, drug screens, and medical information.
Prepare and present monthly and annual reports to meet Joint Commission and state health department requirements.
Stay current on co-worker health regulations and update policies as needed.
Support wellness and safety initiatives through committee participation.
Communicate effectively with concise, accurate verbal and written updates.
Perform duties in alignment with Mercy's mission, values, and service standards.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Licensure: Current RN license in the state of practice.
Experience: Minimum 2 years hospital/clinical experience; 3 years current clinical experience preferred.
Certifications: Current BLS certification required.
Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and work collaboratively.

Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Psychiatry, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminology or related field and completed a diagnosis or assessment course and
1-year of experience working with clientele suffering from MH/SA issues and their families.
Must be licensed as a Psychiatrist, Psychologist, LPC, LMFT, or LCSW.
Must be certified as a GCADC-III, MAC, GCADC-II, CADC-II, ICADC-II or CAC-II for addiction/substance assessments.
Must also be able to provide minimum Counseling or Therapeutic services.
Must have a current ANSA and/or CANS certificate.
Must not have a record of felony convictions.
Maintain unrestricted licensure or certification in the state of Georgia for the duration of employment.
Be organized and detail-oriented.
Must maintain yearly professional liability insurance.
Essential Duties:
Conduct quality clinical Bio-Psychosocial assessments or Addiction/Substance assessments (out-of-clinic and in-clinic) on assigned clients for the purpose of determining the type and/or level of services they may be eligible to receive from the agency. Timely complete and submit all documents to include, the Assessments, Treatment Plans, Assessment Tool, Progress Notes, signed forms and other clinical documents within 48 hours of the date of service.
Provide proper DSM-V diagnosis and accurate evaluations through proper questioning, observation and documentation. Ensure clients meet all eligible criteria for authorized service or treatment. Schedule appointments with families and schedule clients for psychiatric evaluations, as necessary.
Timely report to designated places or service sites to represent the agency and conduct assessments. Service sites may include homes, schools, courthouses or other locations and facilities that require the assessor's presence.
Teamwork & Communication:
Collaboration with other professionals.
Be a productive member of the staff.
Communicate effectively, clearly, and appropriately to ensure client care and clinician concerns are known.
Use excellent judgment.
Prompt arrival to sessions/meetings is strongly encouraged.
