Northern Light Acadia Hospital Department: Behavioral Hlth Resource Ctr Acadia Work Type: PRN Hours Per Week: 12 Hours Work Schedule: Variable Inpatient Admissions Specialist consists of two distinct nursing roles divided between coordination of internal patient flow and designated unit leadership. The specialist is responsible for coordinating the placement of patients within the hospital, managing patient flow, and facilitating smooth transfers between facilities. This role ensures appropriate bed assignments, optimizing hospital capacity while ensuring the highest level of care for patients. The nurse collaborates with physicians, nursing staff, and administrative teams to make effective decisions regarding bed availability, patient needs, and staffing requirements.
The specialist is an expert psychiatric nurse who can manage one or more defined areas within an organized nursing setting. They are adept at negotiating conflict, collaborating with others, and applying self-reflection to their practice. The specialist is responsible for the delivery of care, facilitating change and mentoring/developing all nursing personnel. They work collaboratively with the RN Assistant Manager(s) & Clinical Educator (to provide clinical leadership). Perform any duties and/or responsibilities assigned by Patient Care Director, for which qualified.
Responsibilities:
* Effectively, and respectfully communicates with referring customers, Northern Light Health member organizations, State Crisis teams, and all other referring Hospitals/locations as well as, providers and staff, fellow employees, patients, and family members.

Ensures the safe and timely placement of patients based on admission status and level of care needs, assigning ready beds to ready patients.
* Collaborates with Nursing leadership and House Administration regarding patient placement needs.
* Participates in unit and hospital wide performance improvement initiatives.
* Monitors trends in medication management, patient and staff injuries, quality and risk reports and oversees development, auditing, and implementation of action plans as necessary.
* Participates in unit and hospital wide performance improvement initiatives.

* Manages various aspects of staff performance and development.

Summary:
The Licensed Master Social Worker functions within their scope of practice as a member of a multidisciplinary team, including the patient/family, physicians, nurses, pastoral care, hospice services, care management, and therapists in the Palliative Care Program. The Licensed Master Social Worker serves as patient advocate and liaison between the hospital, facility and community providers, resources, and agencies, working collaboratively, to ensure seamless transitions across the continuum of care for patients and families. Additionally, the Licensed Master Social Worker supports initiatives focused on Community and Provider education, and preventing readmission when aligned with patients' goals of care. The Licensed Master Social Worker seeks to resolve psychosocial patient care issues, provide support and counseling for those with serious, life-limiting illness,( including bereavement and anticipatory guidance for dying patients), provide support with identification of goals of care and decision-making, and assists in developing complex patient transition/discharge plans as needed. Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice- Works in conjunction with providers and others to assess, plan and initiate patient plan of care for patients with serious and life-limiting illness, including initial and ongoing Palliative Care consultations. Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, a regional tertiary care and ACS-verified level II trauma center, is actively seeking an additional board-certified/board-eligible fulltime OB/GYN to join our busy hospital-employed practice in a Hospitalist/Nocturnist role.
The role:
* Approximately twelve 14-hour night shifts, with the availability of extra night or day shifts for extra compensation
* Work alongside 8 physicians, 2 certified nurse midwives, 2 nurse practitioners, and skilled support staff
* Provide routine and high-risk obstetric and gynecologic services to a patient population of approximately 500,000 people
* Overnight, the OBGYN is responsible for triage, labor and delivery, antepartum, and transfer patients, as well as postpartum patients needing physician consultation, ED consults, and emergent GYN surgery.
* 24-hour access to Maternal Fetal Medicine consultation via phone, and on-site Anesthesia and NICU colleagues to care for our patients. In addition, we provide consultation services for the Northern Light Family Medicine residency program and have rotating medical students.
There are over 1,600 deliveries per year at NL EMMC and we currently support a level III NICU. We are the referral center for two thirds of the geographical area of Maine and many patients travel 2+ hours to deliver at our hospital.
Our hospital invested in a $300 million tower which opened in 2016. Our modernization project included a complete redesign of our Women & Infants unit including twenty-five private patient rooms, six new labor and delivery rooms, and two new state-of-the-art obstetrics/gynecology surgical suites to complement the level of expertise found at our medical center.
