_As a part of the OptumCare network, New West Physicians is seeking for a PGY3 Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Resident (2_ _nd_ _year going into 3_ _rd_ _year) to join our Primary Care Pathway Program._
**Position Highlights**

+ This is a temporary role intended for 3 rd year physician residents, interested in pursuing a full-time role with our group following completion of residency.

+ OptumCare will educate and prepare the Physician for next generation population health models in a top-notch patient and provider setting.

+ The customized program will be completed at New West facilities and/or virtually with deep exposure to primary care within a team-based practice environment that will require a commitment of few hours per month.

**Compensation**

+ Physician Resident will receive an adjusted annual salary and sign-on bonus.

**Required Qualifications:**

+ M.D. or D.O.

+ Must be transitioning into their 3 rd year of residency or early into their 3 rd year.

Colorado Residents Only: The salary/hourly range for Colorado residents is $40,000 to $50,000. SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION
The primary purpose and function of the Extern is to ‘shadow' the mentor veterinarian in order to observe and take part in clinical procedures and to gain various firsthand veterinary experience and knowledge.

Description - External

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
Meet with mentor to identify program expectations and create learning goals.
Learn all aspects of hospital organization and function by observing and participating in procedures with the mentor doctor.
Ensure the safety of pets, clients and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols, and maintaining clean, sterile and organized treatment areas, exam rooms and labs.
Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times. This includes performing procedures that do not require veterinarian assistance (depending on skill level), performing surgical procedures in the presence of mentor veterinarian, completing preparatory work for other procedures, ensuring that clients and pets are comfortable in the hospital, monitoring hospitalized or surgical pets.
Act as the extra eyes, ears and hands for the veterinarian to ensure the best quality pet care.
Mentor and be mentored through the objectives of the Externship Program.
Other job duties as assigned.
