Position Summary The Roll Form Subject Matter Expert (SME) will serve as the primary technical authority for roll forming operations, tooling, setup, and process improvement. This role focuses on supporting production teams through technical training, process troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The SME will work closely with engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure optimal equipment performance, high product quality, and efficient production flow. Key Responsibilities Serve as the technical expert for all roll forming processes, equipment, and tooling. Support operators and technicians in setup, changeovers, and troubleshooting complex issues. Collaborate with engineering to develop and refine roll form tooling and machine parameters. Analyze production data to identify and resolve process inefficiencies. Lead efforts to improve product quality, reduce scrap, and enhance machine uptime. Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices. Provide hands-on training and mentorship to roll form operators and setup personnel. Participate in new product introductions and equipment commissioning. Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action efforts. Assist maintenance and engineering teams in identifying and resolving mechanical or process-related issues. Promote and uphold safety standards in all operations. Qualifications Required: High school diploma or GED. 8-10 years of experience in roll forming, metal fabrication, or precision manufacturing. Deep technical understanding of roll form machinery, tooling, and process setup. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and process documentation. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Preferred: Associate degree or technical certification in manufacturing, industrial technology, or a related field. Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate basic manual and CNC shop equipment and tools safely and skillfully Perform machining operations on all materials (e.g., ferrous, nonferrous metals, alloys, etc.) Meet and sustain established quality and production volume performance criteria Work to job batch parts list, prints, drawings, specifications, and procedures to produce parts Possess and maintain a thorough knowledge of industry, equipment, and techniques related to the role SPECIFIC DUTIES ASSIGNED:With supervision:Equipment Preparation, Set-Up, & Maintenance Set up and/or break down essential CNC and/or manual equipment, fixtures, and tooling Utilize pressure-regulated air hoses; deburr parts and edges to drawing specifications and shop standards Use saws, sanders, grinders, and other equipment to prepare and produce rough parts Perform routine maintenance of machines and auxiliary equipment (i.e., chip barrels, etc.) CNC Machining and Production Use CNC/manual equipment to manufacture simple and complex parts having many interrelated dimensions, compound angles, and coordinate and exacting tolerances Operate a variety of CNC/manual machines including but not limited to lathes, mills, and multi-axis work centers Produce parts within required tolerances according to prints, designs, and specs Receive, check, and verify sub-parts needed for work orders; assist in solving discrepancies Select appropriate cutting tools to maximize efficiency and ensure the quality of the product Use a variety of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, etc.) Maintain accurate dimensional tolerances based on work instructions Voucher time accurately for daily work and neatly complete production forms as required Rework and calibrate production parts and machine tooling as required; continuously check for accuracy Quality Assurance Promote, guide, and assist others to meet Quality Policy and ISO standards and customer expectations Produce, prepare, and provide part to Quality for First Piece Inspection Inspect part characteristics at in-process and final checkpoints as required by specifications Prepare parts with a focus on uniformity, quality, and workmanship Ensure all required documentation is completed at each stage of production GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Receive and understand daily job assignments, priorities, and work instruction Organize, clean, and maintain area tools and equipment in the work area Assure all department work centers and related areas are safely maintained, clean, and organized Performs all work within the scope of abilities under all quality and safety policies and practices Establish and maintain effective, positive, and professional communication with all co-workers Willingly performs other duties as trained and able SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Not Applicable EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Must possess a verifiable high school diploma or equivalent (GED) Must have a minimum of 6-9 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in a CNC Machinist role CERTIFICATES, LICENCES, & REGISTRATIONS: Not Applicable
