Responsibilities and Activities
Performs routine and preventative maintenance on a variety of manufacturing equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Diagnoses and troubleshoots mechanical and electrical issues, promptly addressing "red lights" and other machine stoppages to minimize production interruptions.
Conducts machine setups for production operations, ensuring equipment is ready for use.

Summary:

Manufactures, repairs, and/or reworks machine components for maintenance. Assists maintenance in the repair of equipment.
Inspects finished tools for defects, smoothness, and contour deformities.
Collaborates with teammates on processes and other technical information.
Works in a safe manner following all departmental and plant safety rules. Reports any unsafe work conditions to the Safety Manager, supervisor, or management.

Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years CNC experience with tooling knowledge required
Knowledge of HAAS 3 axis CNC machine and Mastercam CAM programming software preferred
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required
Preferred experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and schematics
Experienced in troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical issues
Able to work independently or collaboratively, depending on project requirements
Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality standards, with a solid understanding of ESD protocols and safety best practices.
Capable of standing for extended periods
Able to perform tasks involving reaching, lifting, and bending
Preferred ability to lift between 25 and 50 pounds

SENIOR CNC MACHINIST
Based out of Rocket Lab's Space Structures Complex facility in Middle River, Maryland. The Senior CNC Machinist will maintain, set up and operate the CNC machines to build flight-ready hardware that meet Rocket Lab specification at the needed rate.

WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO:
Work with composites CNC machine cutting carbon, glass, and wood.
Machine massive components for our Neutron rocket
Read and translate drawings/CAD models
Provide feedback to Engineering to improve instructions
Work with CNC programmer to maintain tolerances and, do basic programming activities
Work to reduce any non-conformances found by quality or engineering.
Provide improvement ideas on batch sizes, setups, tool selection etc.
Track calibration and maintenance of all equipment and tooling in the area.
YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS A SENIOR CNC MACHINIST:
HS Diploma and 8+ years of experience with CNC operation on lathe and mills
3+ years experience using a 5 Axis CNC
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:
CNC programming experience - NX programming
Experience in an Aerospace Manufacturing Environment
Experience running CMS CNC machines (Poseidon, Ares)
Manual Programming (understand and diagnose g-code)
