Job Purpose: Operates machines on a repetitive, job lot basis to produce inventory parts as required to meet production schedules. Operates equipment on production runs.
Essential Job Duties:
Performs operation of machine by reading blueprints and work orders.
Operates production equipment by loading and unloading stock, machining parts as directed by work order, and performing all secondary operations not limited to but including drilling and deburring.
Maintains part specifications by inspecting parts as directed by prints, observing operations, detecting malfunctions, adjusting offsets, and replacing worn tools.
Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, notifying supervisor when repairs are needed.
Maintains performance standards by maintaining establish production rates on all parts produced.
Contributes to team effort of team by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs to accomplish related results.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by following established safety and house keeping rules and regulations.
Provides accurate accounting of materials used and parts produced by properly completing all paperwork required for proper inventory accountability.
Prepares production equipment for operation by loading programs and setting up all necessary tools and fixtures required.
Requirements
One-year vocational training or related experience in operation of lathe or mill equipment.
Demonstrated ability to use basic inspection equipment.
Demonstrated ability to perform basic math skills and read blueprints.
Demonstrate basic PC computer skills.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting, twisting, reaching, carrying, and bending
Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Ability to safely stand for 95% of the working shift.

Strong knowledge of machining principles, GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and advanced math (algebra/trigonometry).

Primary Responsibilities:
Set up and operate the automatic production column saw to meet production needs
Verification of conformance to specifications by reading/using tape measure or other tools
Forklift operation or willing and able to be trained to safely operate a forklift
Must identify, store, stack, organize and stage product.
Replace defective cutting blade or wheel
Completes and maintains paperwork on materials
Other preventative maintenance as required.
Assists in other work areas as required, and applicable to skill set.
This role is expected to follow approved processes to provide finished goods with a focus on quality and on-time delivery.

Responsible for all activities associated with operating and assisting in the operations of the production equipment, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to processes. Continuously monitor the product during runs to ensure quality and adjust as necessary.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Operate production equipment to produce the highest level of production and quality.
Reduce the amount of waste by following quality standards.
Maintain efficiency and record production output throughout the entire shift.
Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
Clean at the end of the production runs.
Assist in the training of personnel.
Maximize piece-rate speed on tasks assigned.
Set up the machine accurately by proper setup techniques.
Ensure all bolts for cutting dies are in place and tightly secured.
Monitor board quality, including - loose liner, warp, dimensions, caliper, and any other defects. Report any quality problems to the operator and sort as necessary to keep the machine running.
Work at a pace set by the machine operator.
Willing to work on any part of the line of progression to the operator regardless of shift.
Helps operators adhere to production schedules. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, and service goals. Reports any unusual scheduling issues to the Supervisor.
Read and follow instructions as provided by the supervisor.
Work together with crew/team in all assigned projects.
Keep the work area clean and organized.
Maximize piece-rate speed on tasks assigned.
Learn other job positions as necessary.
Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, and Quality Data.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will have experience operating large horizontal mills and figuring out their own setups when needed. They would also be familiar with a 3-point setup and setting up parts in a relaxed state. This is not fixture work.
