Overview
This is a hands-on position responsible for the oversight, cleanliness, and safety of a designated area during an event at the PPG Paints Arena in accordance with established guidelines and procedures under the direction of the Lead Event Sweeper and Operations Manager.
This role pays an hourly rate of $26.83 (per CBA).

This position will remain open until November 7, 2025.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Keeps building and property in clean and orderly condition.
Performs routine maintenance activities.
Performs heavy cleaning duties.
Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors.
Gathers and empties trash.
Scrubs, sanitizes, and supplies restroom facilities.
Dusts furniture, walls, and equipment.
Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
Mixes cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Cleans and polishes fixtures and furniture.
Shampoos or steam-cleans carpets and rugs.
Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures.
Manages inventory of cleaning supplies.
Drives vehicles required to perform cleaning work, including floor scrubbers, or industrial vacuum cleaners.
Notifies managers regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Janitor and OVG management staff.
Provide excellent customer service to both employees and guests.
Communicate and respond via radio to janitorial calls.
Hours
This position primarily works overnight with shifts beginning at 11pm and going until 7am.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours
Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time
Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and cleaning solutions
Background in handling, mixing, and using cleaning chemicals
Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
Excellent communication skills
Knowledge of various cleaning compounds necessary to the position
Ability to read and understand English
Ability to lift and push/pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions

Responsibilities
* Repairs and maintains facility, including painting and general labor
* Handles preparations for all events, including installation and removal of dasher board system for hockey, staging, and chairs for concerts and family shows and basketball flooring.
* Snow removal and general maintenance of areas on the outside of the facility, which involves driving plow truck and forklift, as needed.
* General summer garden detail, including cutting grass with mower, weeding, and trimming using motorized trimmer.

Responsibilities
Maintain neatness and sanitation in assigned areas at all times.
Clean and sanitize assigned work areas that include buttons, doors, walls, using mechanical and/or manual equipment following proper building and governmental protocols. Contact management for any maintenance issues.
Push buttons to open and close the doors at each floor where guests want to enter/exit the elevator.
Ensure that all passengers follow proper protocols to enter and exit the elevator safely, and that guests adhere to proper behavior while riding the elevator. Notify Event Supervisor and/or Security by pager if issues arise.
Ensure that proper passenger load guidelines are followed. Be alert to any malfunction and ring the pager and security alarm in case of any issue.
Provide directional assistance to various locations throughout the facility.
Assist other employees while loading items into the elevator. May need to transfer other goods from floor to floor.
Enforce rules and regulations of the building (i.e. no smoking)
Provide calmness, courtesy, respect, and professionalism to all guests and fellow employees. May need to prevent unauthorized users from getting inside by instructing them to wait for an additional time period.

Position Summary
The Elevator Usher position is responsible for delivering superior guest service when transporting visitors to their correct seating levels during all PPG Paints Arena events.

As a leading entertainment venue, PPG Paints Arena is the regional epicenter for athletic events, concerts, and family shows in Western Pennsylvania, and home to the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins.
Responsibilities
Maintain neatness and sanitation in assigned areas at all times.
Clean and sanitize assigned work areas that include buttons, doors, walls, using mechanical and/or manual equipment following proper building and governmental protocols. Contact management for any maintenance issues.
Push buttons to open and close the doors at each floor where guests want to enter/exit the elevator.
Ensure that all passengers follow proper protocols to enter and exit the elevator safely, and that guests adhere to proper behavior while riding the elevator. Notify Event Supervisor and/or Security by pager if issues arise.
Ensure that proper passenger load guidelines are followed. Be alert to any malfunction and ring the pager and security alarm in case of any issue.
Provide directional assistance to various locations throughout the facility.
Assist other employees while loading items into the elevator. May need to transfer other goods from floor to floor.
Enforce rules and regulations of the building (i.e. no smoking)
Provide calmness, courtesy, respect, and professionalism to all guests and fellow employees. May need to prevent unauthorized users from getting inside by instructing them to wait for an additional time period.
Qualifications

Overview
The Manager, Guest Services is responsible for overseeing all guest-facing operations at PPG Paints Arena. Guest Experience:
Lead and manage guest services teams to deliver exceptional customer service
Resolve guest inquiries, complaints, and special requests with professionalism and urgency

Oversee lost and found operations and guest feedback systems
Front of House Operations:

Manage signage, wayfinding, and public information displays

Recruit, train, and supervise front-of-house staff including supervisors, ushers, greeters, ticket takers, and guest service reps
Develop staffing plans and schedules for events of varying scale
Conduct pre-event briefings and post-event evaluations
Foster a culture of hospitality, accountability, and teamwork
Design and manage staff incentive programs to boost performance, morale, and guest satisfaction
Administrative & Compliance
Document and report guest incidents and accidents occurring in public areas
Coordinate with risk management and legal teams to file and track insurance claims related to guest incidents
Ensure timely and accurate submission of incident reports and supporting documentation

Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Event Management, or related field (preferred)
3-5+ years of experience in guest services or front-of-house management in a large venue
