The Material Handler will be performing multiple projects that include but not limited to assembling, sorting, packaging, moving raw materials and finished products through the assembly process and meeting quality standards requirements. Requirements: High School Graduate preferred; Industrial work experience preferred. Ability to follow direction and work proactively to maintain a safe work environment while meeting production goals. Working conditions: Prolonged Standing, Sitting, Walking, Pulling, Bending, Lifting up to 50 lbs. The Material Handler is responsible for the movement, storage, and management of materials and products in our Industrial Services Department. This role involves loading and unloading materials, tracking inventory, operating pallet jacks, and ensuring quality standards are met efficiently. This position concerns the movement of raw materials and finished products through the production lines. Movement of materials and finished products are done by hand or by use of manual and electric pallet jacks. Separate counts of products may be required for each worker. Quality control and inspection may be required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience in a warehouse, industrial work, or material handling role (preferred). Ability to operate pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment Basic math skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.) frequently. Able to work independently and as part of a team. Willingness to work in a physically demanding and fast-paced environment. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Warehouse setting. Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and heavy equipment. Requires prolonged standing, and walking, repetitive lifting, and carrying materials for extended periods ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (include percent % of time on tasks) Monitor Quality Control. - 90% As part of your role in monitoring quality control, you will be required to inspect incoming materials, and ensure that finished products meet the contracts' requirements. If a batch shows abnormal defects, you escalate the issue, and assist to implement corrective actions. Perform contract work - 90% Completes a set of tasks or deliverables as agreed upon in our contracts. Load, unload, move, and stack materials using manual methods or powered equipment (e.g. pallet jacks). Set up daily workstations and monitor quality control. Receive incoming materials and verify accuracy. Ensure materials are stored properly to prevent damage or loss. Package materials for shipping when needed. Maintain accurate records Follow all safety protocols and company procedures for material handling and storage. Perform regular inventory counts and assist with cycle counts. Communicate with supervisors, warehouse staff, to ensure smooth operations. Keep work areas clean and organized. The Donation Attendant provides excellent customer service to Ohio Valley Goodwill donors and customers inside and outside of retail locations. Greets donors, receives donations, and supplies donors with receipts. Prepares donations for the production processing area and works to efficiently expedite merchandise in a fast-paced environment. As a member of Ohio Valley Goodwill you will be required to work a flexible schedule in support of the store opening, production, and closing operations. This schedule will include work on weekends and holidays. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A minimum of six months of previous work experience, or the equivalent educational or vocational experience preferred. 2.     Ohio Valley Goodwill Industries, founded in 1916, is one of the largest providers of rehabilitation services in the State of Ohio. Utilizing our retail store network, we generate sales revenue to support thousands of individuals with disabilities and homeless local veterans. The Donation Attendant provides excellent customer service to Ohio Valley Goodwill donors and customers inside and outside of retail locations. Greets donors, receives donations, and supplies donors with receipts. Prepares donations for the production processing area and works to efficiently expedite merchandise in a fast-paced environment. As a member of Ohio Valley Goodwill you will be required to work a flexible schedule in support of the store opening, production, and closing operations. This schedule will include work on weekends and holidays. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A minimum of six months of previous work experience, or the equivalent educational or vocational experience preferred. 2. Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all of our customers and donors. 3. Ability to understand English and interact with customers and employees. 4. Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers. 5. Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling and climbing for prolonged periods of time. 6. Ability to lift 35 pounds frequently. 7. Ability to be trained and safely use big joe stacker and pallet jack (age 18 +). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Ability to motivate the team. 2. Previous experience working in a warehouse environment. 3. Previous pallet packing and forklift experience. 4. Basic computer skills. 5. Multilingual with fluency in English. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Provide exceptional customer service to all our donors/customers. 2. Create a welcoming atmosphere by greeting donors and safely unloading donations from vehicles. 3. Complete donor receipts and offer the donor a copy. 4. Sort donated items into designated categories. 5. Comply with safety and security practices including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Retail General Manager or Retail Assistant Manager or Retail Supervisor on duty. 6. Maintain a professional appearance adhering to Goodwill uniform standards. 7. Comply with all Ohio Valley Goodwill policies, including, but not limited to, reporting theft or misuse of company property or other illegal activities. 8. Demonstrate ethical behavior and comply with Corporate Compliance. 9. Adhere to work schedule set by supervisor. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Help truck drivers and their assistants load/unload donations into company vehicles for transport to/from other store locations. 2. Maintain a professional appearance adhering to Goodwill standards, including compliance with OVGI dress code. 3. Perform general housekeeping duties as needed including janitorial tasks such as cleaning restrooms or removing trash from the parking lot. 4. Communicate OVGI's mission and vision effectively to our donors and customers. 5. Perform other duties as directed. Retail Team Leader will assist management in the operation of the Goodwill retail store. This includes customer service, record keeping, cash management, production, trough donations management, facility operation, communications, merchandising, and inventory control. Role and Responsibilities Assist the Retail Store Manager with the overall operation of the retail store. Ensure compliance with all policies, including, but not limited to, reporting theft or misuse of company property or other illegal activities. Resolve customer complaints in a fair and impartial manner, referring all unsettled disputes to the store manager. Provide coaching, correctional direction, supervise and train retail associates on job related responsibilities. Makes recommendations to Asst Mgr or Manager related disciplinary or corrective action. Monitor sales transactions associated with purchases and ensure proper sales procedures are followed by sales associates. Handles escalated or complex sales or customer related issues. Inspect and validate accurate pricing and quality of production Ensure production team is working at a pace that will ensure the team achieves production goals Supervisory Responsibility This position is responsible for training and delegating work assignments to the Donation Attendant, Merchandise Processor & Sales Associate positions. At least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.
