Provide full scope medical and refractive eye services directly to patients.
Maintain a full patient schedule of comprehensive and follow up exams.
Examine eyes, using observation, instruments and pharmaceutical agents, to determine visual acuity and perception, focus and coordination and to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities.
Perform vision tests, analyze test results and develop a treatment plan.
Prescribe, supply, fit and adjust eyeglasses, contact lenses and other vision aids.
Prescribe medications to treat eye diseases if state laws permit.
Educate and counsel patients on contact lens care, visual hygiene, lighting arrangements and safety factors.
Consult with and refer patients to ophthalmologist or other health care practitioner if additional medical treatment is determined necessary.
Prescribe therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision.
Diagnose sight problems, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness and eye diseases, such as glaucoma.
Promote eye health by counseling patients, including explaining how to clean and wear contact lenses.
Works with support staff in providing exam reports back to referring and/or Primary Care Physician.
Works with and guides technician(s) to assist in providing eye exam services.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
The Optometrist must be licensed to practice optometry in the State of Florida prior to hire and/or transfer into an Optometrist position. Must hold and maintain licensure throughout employment in this position.
Must at all times remain in good standing with all licensure authorities.
EHR experience is required.
