Oracle database administrator job description

Job DescriptionThis position will analyze problems and administer more than one infrastructure area. Will understand and develop non-functional requirements for a system. This role is proficient at DevOps concepts, Scripting and automated deployment, monitoring and support. Will execute day to day tasks related to operational or project work. Contribute to 24x7x365 days of on-call staff coverage.

Performs daily database and database application support which includes the following tasks: Contributing to 24x7x365 staff coverage, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB and MariaDB, MySQL, Hadoop, Redshift, AWS EMR database and application server administration.

Assists with all duties related to on-going operational database infrastructure on premise and in the cloud.
Creates and maintains database objects. Monitors, troubleshoots and resolves failed tasks or database issues. Creates databases, database clusters, assign permissions and resolve connectivity issues. Assists IT management in prioritizing database administration team projects. Monitors database storage allocation and usage daily as well as other resource usage. Assists with backup standards and schedules, and recovery procedures. Develops security plans, testing and maintenance. Intent of this security plan is to establish a means of providing complete accountability for any and all use of the databases. Develops and maintains the portions of the disaster recovery plan that pertain to the database servers and provide documentation of the steps necessary to perform the disaster recovery process. This documentation must provide detailed instructions on how to perform the disaster recovery plan at a level of explanation that any member of IT would be able to perform the steps. Advises developers/end users on issues such as database design and application architecture. Provides performance turning related to database technology and database/server configuration. Provides Technical guidance to teammates. Exports/Imports data and data replication. Schedules Jobs and Events. Manages special projects as assigned.

AWS Sysops certification or certifications in VMware, Microsoft, Cisco, Avaya, Oracle, SQL Server.

Our Product Portfolio includes Private and Public Cloud Platforms and a wide range of services such as databases, messaging and telemetry.

As an Oracle Database and Goldengate consultant you will work as part of the Professional Services Consulting team in Platform services.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
You will be responsible for understanding the firm's Oracle infrastructure environment and technology modernization pathway. You will then work with application teams to help them migrate to the latest Oracle versions on our private cloud or onto the public cloud. You will need to build and maintain a strong personal network with our team of Oracle engineers, and with the application teams you support. Your measures of success will be the ability to migrate large, complex Oracle workloads to new database infrastructure and the ability to help our application teams achieve best performance from their Oracle infrastructure.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Strong understand of Oracle database administration, Oracle architecture and database performance tuning in both public and private cloud environments. Proven experience of working with application developers on how to achieve best performance from Oracle databases. Deep technical understanding of Goldengate, with proven experience of complex Goldengate configurations including bi-directional replication and troubleshooting. Proven experience of moving existing databases to new public and private cloud environments using minimal downtime methodologies. Proven experience of working on mission critical, multi-terabyte, 24x7 uptime oracle databases. Proven experience working on multi-node RAC cluster, ASM, Dataguard & Oracle OEM. Proven ability to collaborate across a wide variety of application and infrastructure teams, from technical workshops to senior leadership briefings.

Technical Skills:

• Should have 7+ years of Techno-Functional experience on Oracle ERP R12 and cloud Financials.
• Responsible for general systems administration tasks including system configuration management, implementation of new functionality, security updates, and business continuity across all EPM Cloud applications, including the Data Management application.
• Maintain user maintenance including sub-application security.
• Maintain metadata (chart of accounts, entity structure, etc.) changes within the Oracle EPM Cloud environment for all applications, including data management governance and compliance with internal controls, with development of control processes and compliance testing. Governance and compliance with internal controls includes thorough documentation of changes and testing.
• Serve as the Oracle EPM Cloud functional application expert; able to provide guidance and support related to application metadata, database management, integrity, and stabilization.
• Develop, maintain, and provide required training materials and training sessions for Oracle EPM and SmartView functionality.
• Review monthly Oracle EPM application updates and perform required testing to determine the initial impact to the business and communicate findings and solutions to management.
• Remediates application issues through appropriate troubleshooting, incident-, change- and problem-management standards.
• Responsibilities would include requirements analysis, high level design, problem analysis, integration testing, system testing, and support for the applications of Oracle EPM.
• Prepare necessary business rules (calculation scripts, member formulas, etc.) in Oracle EPM applications based on business requirements from user base.
• Performs required month-end tasks associated with migration and validation of data from Oracle ERP to Oracle EPM applications and between Oracle EPM applications.
• Ability to translate financial requirements into system reporting capabilities via forms, dashboards and Web Studio Reporting, including the control of application reports (financial & statistical) consistently across the business unit. Responsible for developing solutions for business needs within the architecture of the EPM suite.
• Define and maintain new and current processes and procedures essential to ensure database integrity for Oracle EPM Cloud.
• Develop relationships with internal customers and help clarify their needs.
