Examine eyes using observation, instruments and pharmaceutical agents, to determine visual acuity and perception, focus and coordination and to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities such as glaucoma or color blindness. Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and medications. Prescribe therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision. Provide pre and postoperative care to patients undergoing eye surgery, for example, examining a patient's eyes the day after surgery. Work closed with primary care providers in the provision of team delivery of healthcare. Maintain accurate, timely and quality health records. Participate in all quality measures as required.
