Your Role
As a Machine Operator II, you will support the Team Lead in leading and motivating line crew to meet production goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and motivate line crew, ensuring SOP, GMP, and material handling compliance.
Perform daily GMP/Safety audits, maintain clean work areas, and follow waste management procedures.
Record production data in Mary Kay Business System, resolve material variances, and assist with system troubleshooting.
Perform successful equipment changeovers, including cleaning, part replacement, lubrication, and reporting damages.
Set up intermediate bulk containers, fillers, and secondary packaging equipment, including nozzles, piping, and filters.
Operate and maintain packaging equipment, including pumps, heaters, and automated machinery for cosmetics and personal care products.
Maintain and manage change part inventory, request replacements, and troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
Collaborate with mechanics to resolve major mechanical and quality issues.
Complete production startup activities and perform in-process product inspections to maintain quality standards.
Document in-process measurements, including fill weights, volume, and temperature, and maintain finished good records.
Track MTTR, MTBF, and OEE, and ensure production targets and quality standards are met.
Maintain 6S organization and cleanliness practices on the production line.
Promote continuous improvement through feedback, using tools like 6S, TPM, and SMED to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Assist with miscellaneous duties, including aiding operators, product validation, and new product development trials.

Education: High School Diploma
Experience: 3+ years of manufacturing or packaging experience
Skills & Abilities
Must be able to read and write English and understand basic instructions, day codes, interpret procedures, and communicate this information to others.
Must be able to start-up and shut down machinery and make minor adjustments to machinery according to established procedures.

The Machine Operator II works independently and in coordination with the Team Lead. Leads line crew in producing various cosmetics and OTC (Over the Counter) products. Engages, directs and motivates line crew in all production-related activities to achieve successful business functions in production areas. Ensures compliance with product manufacturing specifications. Directs team in the execution and completion of the packaging manufacturing of the finished goods process from set up to completion, documentation, variance resolution, and work order closing. Follows all safety rules and guidelines. Ensures compliance with all safety procedures and guidelines, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and all applicable rules and regulations. Use of the MKBS to record production and ensure downtime is captured correctly. Has ownership of the production process and takes actions to ensure a quality product is produced safely. Handles issues and disputes and elevates personnel concerns to Team Lead. Facilitates and contributes ideas to simplify and standardize the workplace. Shares ownership in achieving world-class performance and continuous improvement of production. Accountable for helping achieve strategies and goals of becoming the world-class, low-cost/high-quality producer of choice.
About the Role
* Responsible for leading and motivating line crew while directly participating in ongoing production activities, including but not limited to finished good assembly activities and material handling (ordering/loading components, RF device operation, quality audits, and FG packing/palletizing). Ensures compliance with all pertinent SOPs/WIs and established procedures, WO requirements and GMP compliance during all production related activities. Performs GMP/Safety Audits to ensure GMP standards are followed daily. Maintains tools and work areas clean and orderly according to GMP practices and routinely sanitizes equipment following specified cleaning procedures. Follows waste management and recycling procedures. Utilizes current inventory system to account for material usage, close work orders, and make inventory adjustments as necessary. Operates an RF device to induct bulk, components and move materials to active location. Responsible for completing all tasks and transactions in MKBS to replenish components and bulk, completing work order documentation, ensuring completion of accurate materials returns, resolving material variances in the work order, and closing work order upon completion. Records production information in the Mary Kay Business Systems (MKBS) and the manual production log in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Enters into MKBS all proper locations, Troubleshoots and assists with system issues audits work orders for errors.
* Responsible for ensuring successful equipment changeovers, including cleaning machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary, lubricating moving parts to ensure effective performance, installing replacement parts, and recording and reporting damage, worn, or broken parts. Intermediate bulk container setups, filler installation (hopper, filler block, nozzles), and secondary packaging setups (cartoner, case packer). Assembles nozzles, piping, filters, hose connections, and ancillary equipment. Operatespackaging equipment, including pumps, plate followers, heaters, and uses automated packaging equipment to fill cosmetics and personal care products from bulk materials to finished products. Competent in all packaging production areas, including alcohol products which require specific training. Maintains change part inventory and uses maintenance system to request change parts modifications or replacement inventory. Evaluates and assist in resolving minor equipment issues, such as clearing jams, product labeling errors, and resetting system faults. Partners with mechanics to identify and resolve major mechanical and/or quality issues.
* Responsible for successfully completing production start-up/setup activities and in-process product inspections to maintain and control product quality to prevent costly production errors. Knows and understands the quality evaluation system for packaging and acts as a resource to the team. Documents various in process measurements during the bulk filling, such as fill weights, volume, temperature, torque, and other functional tests using MKBS. Maintains finished good records as specified. Computes yield percentages and documents results. Ensures proper coding and labeling of finished good products. Maintains all finished good documentation after completing all work orders and inventory system tasks.
* Responsible for MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), MTBF (Mean Time Before Failure), OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and meeting all defined production targets and quality standards. Utilizes MKBS to maintain a record of scrap and downtime on the production line. Responsible for maintaining 6S, workplace organization, and cleanliness practices on the line.
* Follows safety precautions to prevent product contamination and injury to self and others. Assists in meeting departmental production objectives and contributes to performance improvement initiatives within team to simplifying and standardizing work processes and promoting teamwork and self-discipline. Promotes continuous improvement by proactively sharing ideas and issues with management to assist in eliminating waste, improving productivity, and promoting safety. Utilizes CI tools such as 6S, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) to increase efficiency and reduce cost.
* Performs miscellaneous duties as required, including aiding other operators, contract staff, product validation sampling and new product development line trials. Assists processing with hookups for delivering bulk product and ensuring the bulk is released

Skills & Experiences
Experience: 3+ years' experience in manufacturing
Education: High School Diploma & Equivalent

* Must have knowledge of manufacturing processes, manufacturing troubleshooting and manufacturing systems. experience in order to interpret and apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure accurate codes, proper weights, etc., are met.
* Must be proficient with the current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to ensure that products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards.
* Must be able to read and write English to understand basic instructions and day codes, interpret procedures, and communicate this information to others.
* Experience starting and shutting down machinery and making minor adjustments to machinery according to established procedures
* Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations, utilizing addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions typically acquired through a high school education or equivalent to complete paperwork and maintain records about the packaging line.
* Must be able to pass the Production Operator II certification following the completion of the Operations Development Program.
* Must be able to type and possess data entry skills in order to utilize various computer business systems (LIMS, JDE, WM, Informance, MS Office).
* Must have the ability to utilize verbal and written communication skills to interface with other support groups. Strong interpersonal skills are required in order to interface with all Operation's support groups/customers on an as needed basis for daily/routine packaging line issue resolution.
* Must have the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Actively participates and contributes constructively to team meetings and related discussions or problem-solving.
* Must be able to follow, demonstrate and promote daily safety rules and regulations as they apply to the production area.
* Shift or schedule change may be necessary due to changing business needs.
* Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, lift and move 50 lbs to provide production line with components, parts, transfer product and pallets. Must be required to operate a pallet jack to move the pallet and finished goods.
