We have a robust sheetfed, web, digital press capabilities, the largest bindery/finishing area in New England, mailing, fulfillment, kitting, Print-on-Demand and variable data capabilities. Job Summary:
The Perfect Binder Operator will read work orders and set up equipment according to project specifications to run a project.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • The Perfect Binder Operator will operate a Muller Martini Perfect Binder in conformance with job specifications; binds sheets, loads pockets, stack finished products as indicated and perform machine adjustments that will minimize waste.
  • Binds sheets or signatures into complete booklets by use of automated bindery finishing machine using a flexible adhesive rather than wire stitching.
  • Loads pockets in proper order with properly collated signatures making certain backs of signatures have been ground off to leave a rough surface for adherence of glue.
  • Perform bindery operations to operate and run bindery machinery, ensuring machine speed and quality of product are maintained.
  • Coordinate efforts of all bindery team members to ensure bindery is set up and operated according to bindery run schedule(s) meeting all deadlines.
  • Inspect working parts and be able to recognize those that need replacement, reporting to management or maintenance any problems that would affect production.
  • The ideal candidate will inspect, minimize waste, and maintain a constant flow on machine by providing methods of feeding, piling and handling work.
  • Stack finished products in cartons or hampers as indicated.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Good manual dexterity required
  • Understanding of finishing principles
  • Comfortable in a fast paced environment.
  • Basic knowledge of computer systems needed.
  • Examine job orders to determine quantities to be bound or inserted or special binding instructions. Ensure that bindery team members know job details to ensure proper bindery utilization.
  • Sup, adjust and repair heads as needed for smooth and trouble free operation

Education and Experience:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

Physical Requirements: Standing- 80%, Walking-20%

Job Type: Full Time
Shift Available & Schedule: 2nd shift: 4:00pm-12:00am, 3rd shift: 12:00am-8:00am

  • Direct a binder crew to produce safely and efficiently good, quality product.
  • Use mechanical skills to set up and run machine.
  • Thoroughly read and understand job specifications on a job ticket, to ensure customer satisfaction through quality product.
  • Ensure proper materials and product are prepped at the machine, and train/ assist crew members to obtaining replacement product from Material Handling as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns, make minor repairs, and perform routine maintenance on machine.
  • Follow detailed written instructions to complete safety and production reports and all other paperwork as required.

Qualifications
