DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As you participate in our six-month on-the-job training program, you will acquire essential skills to effectively contribute to the operation of highway construction and maintenance equipment, while also performing various manual labor tasks as a vital member of a highway or bridge maintenance team. This program emphasizes the importance of creating a safe work environment for yourself, your colleagues, and the public by following established safety protocols and using the appropriate protective gear. You will learn to conduct visual assessments, make manual adjustments, and communicate your observations clearly, both in writing and verbally. Staying alert in the work area is crucial for avoiding potential risks and hazards. Under the guidance of an instructor, you will also obtain the necessary licensing and certification to operate heavy construction machinery, including Heavy Truck/Tandem Axle (HT/TA) vehicles and loaders with a bucket capacity of 4.5 cubic yards or less.

The Machine Fabricator is required to support the Plant Manager by fabricating, assembling, and insulating machinery by using a variety of tools and equipment according to a required specification. Further the position is to perform tasks involved in repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, and electrical systems on all production machines and equipment. The incumbent is expected to be a self-starter, a good manager of time, work independently and follow Altor Solutions' standards for safety and conduct.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Associates at this level are expected to have developed a trade of expertise and have the ability to work independently in the performance of standard maintenance and repairs.
The following list of major duties represents a composite list of typical duties performed by individuals in this position. Specific duties performed by the incumbent will vary depending upon the facility and/or department within the Company.
Fabricate components using tools such as lathes, boring machines, mills, plate rollers, grinders, drill presses, and press brakes (experience on each of these tools is not required to start)
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, charts, diagrams
Use hoists, drills, hand tools, holding devices, cutters, power tools and welding equipment
Test run machines and observe machine operations

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Associates at this level are expected to have developed a trade of expertise and have the ability to work independently in the performance of standard maintenance and repairs.
The following list of major duties represents a composite list of typical duties performed by individuals in this position. Specific duties performed by the incumbent will vary depending upon the facility and/or department within the Company.
Fabricate components using tools such as lathes, boring machines, mills, plate rollers, grinders, drill presses, and press brakes (experience on each of these tools is not required to start)
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, charts, diagrams
Use hoists, drills, hand tools, holding devices, cutters, power tools and welding equipment
Test run machines and observe machine operations
Perform inspections including pressure and flow tests
Change worn machine accessories, such as cutting tools and brushes
Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards
Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specifications
Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures
Responsible for general maintenance duties on building and machines; including troubleshooting to determine Responsible for following Plant specified job specification, task list and completion of all requirement paperwork.
Responsible for conducting him/herself in a safe manner and adhering to all required safety protocols and policies, including lockout/tagout.
Required to wear PPE properly in accordance with company standards.
Keep the area around your workstation clean and free from dirt and debris; this may include cleaning assigned areas of the building or pieces of equipment as instructed by your supervisor.
Must be able to work assigned shifts, including working overtime and attending after hour meetings as needed.
