Pipe line maintenance supervisor job description

**JOB SUMMARY:**

To layout, install, repair and maintain plant piping systems\.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:**

I\. Installs plant compressed air, water, steam, natural gas piping as well as piping for less common chemicals and gases in accordance with the Uniform Plumbing Code\.

II\. Maintains and repairs piping, pumps, pressure control devices, fuel service area equipment, chemical filtration, back flow prevention and reverse osmosis equipment\.

1\.Safely makes repairs to failed piping systems and equipment\.

III\. Uses lift equipment or ladders to access overhead equipment\.

IV\. May be required to use cutting torch and to sweat solder in performance of job duties\.

V\. Responsible for quality of own work\.

VI\. Performs other duties as required\.

**Qualifications**

**EDUCATION:**

High School education or equivalent, plus one year of trades school training including Plumbing Code courses\. Must obtain and maintain any necessary training and licensing, including but not limited to, Forklift Operation Certificate, and Aircraft Operating Area License\.

**EXPERIENCE:**

Requires one to three years of industrial pipefitting and plumbing\.

**WORKING CONDITIONS:**

Somewhat disagreeable working conditions due to exposure to dirt, noise and weather conditions\. Occasional hazardous conditions caused by hazardous materials and processes\.

+ This job is a member of the Maintenance Team within the Integrated Operations Division.

+ Responsible for leading a team of inspectors as a key member of the dynamic and fast-paced American Airlines Maintenance organization.

**What you'll do**

+ Maintains Inspection staff compliance with the designated QC and maintenance program [CAMP] and as directed by QC Manager

+ Ensures Inspection staff is following methods as required to maintain product quality necessary to meet AA standards and FAA government regulations

+ Supervises and manages union workforce of inspectors in the performance of their day-to-day accomplishment of audits, visual inspection, functional testing measurements, non-destructive testing, borescope and work finding of airframes components/engines repaired, serviced and / or modified by Production employees

+ Creates and nurtures a diverse work environment

+ Recognizes and encourages successful individual and team performance; establishes individual developmental plans

+ Resolves conflict and takes appropriate action to prevent future occurrences

+ Keeps team and self-aware of personnel, product, safety, regulatory, and technical requirements

+ Supervises the team that audits completed tasks to ensure physical work accomplished matches the provided instructions

+ Utilizes the skills, knowledge, and information available from resources (e.g., employees, customers, manuals, other departments) to make timely, effective, and informed decisions

+ Accomplishes corporate objectives by facilitating the active participation of all team members and by identifying and removing obstacles to achieve desired results

+ May certify the airworthiness of aircraft released for service and the return of components and federal regulations

+ Ensures inspectors possess proper qualifications to perform their assigned duties properly and efficiently

+ Recommends new and revised procedures / programs for upgrading quality systems as needed, includes special assignments as directed by management

+ Supervises the team to support corporate D0 initiatives and hangar and/or terminal operations as necessary

**Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience**

+ High School diploma or GED equivalency

+ Experience equivalent to undergraduate degree or similar technical school

+ Experience in managing teams and utilizing continuous improvement processes

+ Experience in monitoring and improving organizational performance

**Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience**

+ Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience/training

+ 5 years' experience in supervising the accomplishment of Part 121 air carrier maintenance programs, Aircraft Training, Airbus Commercial Aircraft, Boeing Commercial Aircraft, Embraer Commercial Aircraft

+ Prior leadership experience (e.g., supervisor, crew chief, community, organizational)

+ Experience in using Operating Rhythm to monitor and improve organizational performance, with an emphasis on the ability to develop and implement shop level metrics

+ Project Management experience
