Nature of Duties/Responsibilities

* Through use of a computer interface, candidate must be able to enter operating parameters, job information and view various screens to decipher proper operating settings.
* Be able to operate and maintain the various pieces of equipment within the department.
* Measure out the proper quantities and make chemical adds to baths or sumps.
* Manually set up and transfer solution between tanks, totes, or barrels.
* Replace filter material used throughout the various process tanks.
* Clean, dry and properly dispose of used filter material.
* Perform general housekeeping through the entire area. Inspect product for defects and conformance to process specifications.
* Be able to extract various computer reports.
* Provide assistance in performing routine preventative maintenance.
* Scrubbing and cleaning of mechanical devices or hardware.
* Assist in replacement of non-precision mechanical devices.
* Candidate would be required to work on, in, and around open sumps, plating tanks or mechanical hoists.

Education and Experience

SWD Inc. opened for business in March 1980 with three employees in a 9,000 sq. ft. leased facility and began black oxiding, cleaning, and pickling operations with used equipment. In late 1980, the company began passivating stainless steel and in 1981 purchased Fastener Sorting Corporation. Today, a recognized leader in the Metal Finishing and Fastener Sorting fields, SWD Inc. has over 200 employees and runs three shifts per day in its 165,000 sq. ft. facility just west of Chicago in Addison, Illinois.

What We're Seeking:

SWD Inc. is in the process of adding 3 new lines to our production departments and is expanding our Addison, IL. facility. That means we are growing, and growing fast! We are seeking a full-time Rack Laborer who is willing to put in their best efforts. This position is tough - it is hard, physical labor - but is also compensated accordingly. We have openings on both our 2nd and 3rd shifts. Our Metal Finishing Department also has Machine Operators as well. Employees rotate and are cross trained on multiple positions if doing well in the Rack Laborer role. This full time role must also be able to work Monday-Saturday!

  • 2nd shift: 3pm-11pm, starting at $20.75/hr
  • 3rd shift: 11pm-7am, starting at $21.50/hr

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist foreman with delegated duties
  • Load jobs into the barrels as required
  • Assist in loading and unloading of metal parts
  • Review of shop orders
  • Drive a lift truck
  • Knowledge of proper safety policies and procedures
  • Assist maintenance department technician in troubleshooting line problems

Qualifications:

  • This is an Entry Level Machine Operator position(training provided!)
  • GED or High School Diploma (preferred not required)
