1. What You Will Achieve

The Assistant Process Development Technician will work within a microbial fermentation process development laboratory, under the direct supervision of a scientific lead. Primary interactions will be within the fermentation process development team.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Conduct a variety of experiments using lab fermenters and shake flasks, under the supervision of lead scientist, with detailed written instructions.
  • Follow the progress of experiments and operations by various analytical procedures or instruments. Notify scientist if process deviates from normal or expected values.
  • Report results both orally and by recording using electronic Lab Notebook. Use standard computer applications.
  • Assist in maintenance of media, consumables, and equipment parts supplies.
  • Plan/organize daily tasks. Maintain area and equipment in clean, safe, functional order. Participate in safety reviews and inspections.
  • Interact as needed with other areas within the department.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, such as wearing appropriate personal protective equipment including lab coat, safety glasses, and gloves.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Position involves considerable standing in the laboratory and working with the hands and arms.

  • Laboratory work is generally in a climate-controlled environment.

Qualifications
