Process/product engineer job description

CANDIDATE MUST BE A US CITIZEN, OR HAVE A GREEN CARD, TO COMPLY WITH ITAR (INTERNATIONAL TRAFFIC & ARMS REGULATIONS) Provides engineering and consulting support to maintain and develop products or processes and manages technical information flow for the same. Primary accountability is to support both marketing and manufacturing in assigned product or process line. This includes active contact with the customer regarding product requirements and translation of these requirements into product definition. Takes into account effective use of materials and resources and recommends changes to product specifications as necessary. Works closely with outside contractors and suppliers as needed. The engineer may provide technical service support to the sales organization to solve customer needs and product or processes problems for the purpose of marinating and increasing sales. Works within an engineering group that provides technical support and development throughout the business organization. The engineer is expected to take advice from and give advice to the senior technical and production managers, as well as function as technical expert for associates within operations. The engineer will serve as the technical team leader for the specified product or process line.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. Bachelor's degree in Ceramic or Materials Engineering is preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of Engineering experience . Requires the understanding and utilization of engineering principles and theories and their applications. Limited technical support and problem solving to customers, marketing, production planning, customer service and the production floor.

The Assistant Process Engineer will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to assist project teams to create world class designs for new projects, alterations and redevelopments on a variety of projects including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government and military facilities\. The Assistant Process Engineer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting process plans according to budget constraints, design factors or client needs\.
+ Assists in the process design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion\.

+ Assists with modifying and reviewing production drawings for a variety of projects including, but not limited to: power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities\.

+ Assists in designing process components for project needs and requirements that are set forth by the project managers\.

+ Applies basic knowledge of commonly used process engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures within the chemical process engineering services industry\.

+ Assists with research and compiles project related data as required by the project managers\.

+ Assists with correcting and updating drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD related software\.

+ Assists with client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities\.

+ Assists in performing field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients\.

+ All other duties as assigned\.

**Qualifications**

+ Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program\.

+ Or Bachelor of Science in Chemical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering \(FE\) exam\.

+ Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering \(FE\) or Engineer\-in\-Training \(EIT\) strongly preferred\.

+ Minimum of a 3\.0 GPA strongly preferred\.

+ Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred\.

+ Involvement on campus or in the community\.

+ Basic knowledge in standard chemical process engineering techniques, principles and procedures\.

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills\.

+ Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem\-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills\.

+ Proficient computer skills \(e\.g\. Microsoft Office Suite\)

+ Basic computer skills include process simulation software \(i\.e\. Hysys and/or Aspen, HTRI\) is preferred\.

+ Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem solving skills\.

+ Demonstrated leadership skills\.

+ Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full\-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status\.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Encourage and maintain a safe work environment to include 6S activities.
* Development of new business processes including equipment areas, labor, and other necessary inputs.
* Costing for new business, Continuous improvements, and cost out projects across the businesses
* Creation of Form 26 and routers and communication to Grafton for uploading
* Inputting new business sales orders and customer purchase orders
* Create new business systems
* Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
* Aides in identifying opportunities for cost reduction
* Standardization in of best practices across the businesses

Required Experience and knowledge:

* Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering along with 1 - 2 years of experience to include a 6-month co-op / internship in a manufacturing environment. Aerospace experience a definite plus
* Advanced Excel skills including lookups, sumifs, nested ifs, pivots, charting, etc.
* Ability to use ERP / MRP Systems.
* Ability to manage projects in a team environment.
* Display a positive "can do" attitude.
* Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization. Ability to interact with hourly team members and to provide clear, concise instructions.
* Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously or as a team member
* Ability to support a 24/ 7 manufacturing operation includes holidays, weekends, and off-shifts
