Product development chemist job description

Safety-oriented mindset emphasizing a safety-first approach for day-to-day work. Follows all safety requirements (training, PPE, safe procedure, etc.). Develops and maintains 5S standards for the laboratory. Operates all equipment in accordance with safety requirements and maintains equipment in safe working condition.

Work with cross function teams on various product development projects, responsible for overall project timeline, tracking/monitoring action items and their progress on a regular basis, gathering team for brainstorming, proposing solutions, summarizing and updating status, etc. This includes new product development, raw materials qualification, and technical support for plant and external customers. Develops a working relationship with operators, engineers, sourcing, and commercial teams.

Serve as a key individual contributor for new invention disclosures, and support patent applications

Evaluates feasibility of producing new products on production scale and responsible for new product introduction to ensure seamless scale up of new products from R&D team to production team

Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in organic, inorganic, polymer chemistry, material science, or chemical engineering with 0-5 years’ industrial experience, or MS with 8-15 years of experience demonstrated technical judgment/accomplishments is required.

10 years of experience in Wet chemistry: Hands on experience with mixing and blending chemicals; familiar with solvents, surfactants, dispersants, and nano particle applications is preferred.

5 years of experience in Specialty chemicals: Hands on experience with developing formulations are preferred.

5 years of experience in CMP slurries or semiconductor chemicals: Experience in formulating CMP slurries or chemicals for semiconductor manufacturing processes is preferred.

5 years of experience in Industrial project management: Be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Demonstrated understanding of nanoparticles, surface chemistry, organic chemistry, wet chemistry (organic, inorganic, polymer chemistry, colloidal chemistry). Strong technical background in chemistry, material science and chemical engineering.

Technical expert in polymer chemistries, polymer network physics, highly filled suspension rheology, and/or resin cure chemistry Translates customer and market feedback into technical specifications and develops product formulations and applicable data packages for specific customers and general market. Reads and interprets patents, examines new product concepts and technology, and determines how to improve or utilize technology. Generates intellectual property in the form of patents, trade secrets, and formulation know-how Deep understanding of heat transfer materials and thermal interface products. Broad based knowledge of polymer science, including polymer chemistry, structure property relationships, rheology, bulk and adhesive mechanics of soft materials. An understanding of the requirements of applications and assemblies in the electronics industry

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
A Ph.D. in the field of phytochemistry, organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry or related fieldA deep understanding of the chemistry of natural products from botanical and microbiological origins Experience in process development, optimization and scale-up of extraction and related down-stream purification operations including solvent extraction, partitioning, preparative chromatography and crystallization Practical knowledge of analytical instrumentation including HPLC and GCKnowledge of green chemistry techniques including enzyme-mediated reactions and bio-transformations Ability to independently search and evaluate technical patents and literature Must be authorized to work in the United StatesDemonstrated responsible and ethical behavior at all times The ability to help the company drive greater value through understanding the business, making complex decisions and creating the new and different
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
