**Scientist- Automation, Pre-Pivotal Drug Product Technologies**

**What you will do**
In this role you will join Amgen's Pre-Pivotal Drug Product technologies organization as a member of our Synthetics Enabling Technologies Organization. We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist with expertise in automation to support synthetic form screening and formulation development. Specifically, the successful candidate will:
+ Provide high-throughput support to enable preclinical and clinical formulation development, lead optimization, and form selection of therapeutic candidates for synthetics programs.
+ Manage state-state-of-the-art automation assets, introduce and develop new technologies, and drive seamless implementation to advance drug development.
+ Provide hands-on automation design expertise for drug product development, including both hardware and software expertise.
+ Employ critical thinking and advanced troubleshooting skills and to provide hyper-care to sophisticated robotic systems
+ Lead value-adding data science initiatives to streamline dataflow, automate analysis, and advance data visualization to rapidly derive insights to enable decision-making.
+ Partner with process teams to ensure pipeline goals are met on schedule and with high quality.
+ Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners, including counterparts across R&D and Process Development, Amgen's synthetics and biologics drug product organizations, facilities and vendors.
+ Contribute to technical documents and regulatory filings: IND and NDA, technical protocols, technical reports, regulatory documents, patents, etc.
+ Support value-stream mapping of workflows to improve efficiency by optimizing or introducing high throughput technology

+ Doctorate or Doctorate degree completed by September 2022 OR
+ Master's degree & 4 years of scientific experience OR

**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Doctorate Degree in one of the following areas: Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Mechanical Engineering or related field with 1-2 years of post‐doctoral or industry experience.
+ Experience in automation and high throughput screening is desired.
+ Data science experience applying automate analysis and advanced data visualization tools.
+ Hands‐on experience designing and carrying out form screening and crystallization experiments to identify polymorphs, salts, co‐crystals, etc.
+ Experience in solid‐state techniques (DSC, TGA, XRD, microscopy, DVS, particle characterization, Raman, IR, etc.)
+ Knowledge of preformulation. pharmaceutical science, analytical chemistry, and drug stability of synthetic and/or biologic modalities.
+ A successful track record of peer‐reviewed journal publications and presentations.
+ Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills: ability to distill, craft and present key messages relative to diverse audience requirements.
+ Problem solver with proactive attitude and independence to collaborate and work in a multi-functional and multidisciplinary environment.
