The Machine Learning Engineer II will be a member of the Learning and Active Perception (LEAP) group in AV's MacCready Works division and support the development of a variety of innovative computer vision capabilities (object detection, classification, localization, and tracking) and other image/video analytics for defense and commercial applications. These development efforts require a range of skills and tools across traditional engineering, computer science, and mathematical disciplines including but not limited to data management, computer vision, machine learning, optimization, and deep convolutional neural networks. This position will span multiple stages of the development process including requirements gathering, algorithm design, prototyping, test and evaluation, and validation and verification testing. This specific role also involves on-site support for experimentation and fielded systems requiring a significant amount of extended travel, both domestic and international. Duties * Support development of computer vision and machine learning (ML) algorithms capable of object detection, classifying, localizing, and tracking objects of interest from a variety of stationary and mobile sensor platforms with the primary purpose of real-time automated target recognition (ATR) * Perform visual imagery data science to inform data collection, data labeling, and data selection for training deep computer vision ML algorithms, train the algorithms using the data, and validate data selection and algorithm design through a series of purpose-designed experiments. This will involve set up, adjusting, maintaining, and configuring processing equipment according to assigned specifications, and regular communication with production personnel and supervisors and the completion of required paperwork. Must do visual inspections and complete documentation during the run to insure defect free work. Load corrugate, labels, bottles/cans, glue, carriers etc… in appropriate machines. Performs minor package change-overs on equipment as required, as well as change- over to proper raw material. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment with regards to cleaning and clearing them of debris and materials. Assist line mechanics in machinery repair or other tasks as/if needed. Must insure that all equipment is on and functioning properly prior to starting a run. Air is on, all conveyors are on. Must do visual inspection of boxes to insure proper box/tray is used and the graphics on the box/tray are acceptable. Watch flow of materials, i.e. Cans/bottles/boxes/trays, etc… into appropriate machine. Clear jams if necessary. Must insure proper coding is on the bottle, cans, boxes/trays, and if applicable the graphics are acceptable. Must insure closures and lids are properly applied. Verify flavor and size according to schedule. Report any major defects to the Lead person and/or Manager. Monitor the machine while running. Check to see that all bottles, cans are packed into the box correctly. Fill glue pot's as necessary. Verify case code is correct as scheduled. Clear your machine of all products at end of each run and at the end of your shift. Must follow the work rules at all times. GMP compliance MUST be adhered to at all times. Is responsible to report any quality issue to the Lead person, QA Technician and/or Manager. Assist in relieving other operators for lunch breaks. Keep work area clean at all times. WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH Safely and efficiently operate the Asphalt Transfer Machine. Control the material transfer vehicle to ensure a continuous supply of asphalt from trucks to the paver without interrupting paving operations. Guarantee consistent asphalt delivery to prevent segregation, maintain mat quality, and avoid cold joints. Monitor asphalt mix temperature and quality during transfer to ensure compliance with project specifications. Coordinate with dump truck drivers and paver operators to synchronize timing and material supply. Inspect the transfer machine before and after shifts; clean, lubricate, and report any mechanical issues. Follow traffic control plans, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and operate equipment with an awareness of ground crew and surrounding hazards.
