Job Overview
The Operator Manufacturing III is responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance on assigned machines. The Operator Manufacturing III is also responsible for inspecting parts and making adjustments or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications. Duties & Responsibilities
* Performs necessary pre-operation activities on multiple pieces of equipment to ensure proper equipment startup and operation
* Operates multiple pieces of equipment and monitors equipment during operation, performs setup and changeover, inspects parts and makes adjustments or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications and to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops
* Performs scheduled quality assurance tests in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and communicates results with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high-quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials
* Performs housekeeping activities and sanitations on production equipment
* May operate equipment including Palletizing machines (1-2 machines) to maintain factory efficiency, changeover the machine to different SKU and package sizes
* May operate Stretch Wrap machine and operate the computerized Pallet Tag machine
* Unload of product from the Palletizing machines, or loading the product directly into trailers using Radio Frequency (RF) Tablet
* Scan the product while safely stacking product in the Warehouse bin locations
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-speed environment, follow standardized work and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement environment
* Technical, mechanical aptitude for initial basic troubleshooting
* Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs., stand on feet for prolonged periods of time and climb stairs as needed
* Weekend work will be required, including some holidays as scheduled to support customer demand
* Equipment noise is elevated requiring the use of hearing protection

Second Shift: 6pm-6amA Day in the Life:
Comply with all safety requirements resulting in zero safety violations. This includes participating in all safety related activities such as safety talks, behavioral based safety observations, audits, etc.
Operate, monitor and troubleshoot equipment used during daily manufacturing
Perform changeovers and disassemble, assemble, and clean machinery
Understand and execute daily production run schedules, resolve quality issues, and report any unresolved issues immediately
Stage packaging area, manually lift and load 55lbs or more of material into equipment, bag/box finished product and prepare for shipment and distribution
Operate forklift to transport raw materials and finished product to designated areas
Operate hand tools to effectively degate or deflash materials
Empty trash and waste into compactor or dumpster
Raw material management including organizing, handling, weighing and measuring
Follows standard operating and LOTO procedures for all assigned tasks
Performs all standard QC tests and accurately record production data
Performs equipment maintenance tasks (PM'S, troubleshoot, repair, etc.), where applicable.
Maintain a clean work environment and all tools and equipment are in the proper location and storage units.

* Visually inspect extruded product for appearance and size defects according to specifications
* Conduct recurrent tests/inspections of products' functional features (including, but not limited to, nail slot depth, weep holes, butt end channel locks, etc)
* Notify appropriate personnel (Extrusion Associate 3s and 4s, Manufacturing Shift Supervisor) of product defects
* Assemble cartons for packaging
* Ensure proper packing patterns, product counts, and package enclosures
* Square, glue, seal, and label (if necessary) the packed cartons
* Transfer carton to finished product skid
* Discard unacceptable panels in Scrap Rack
* Identify product that is jammed up in production line and assist as necessary
* Identify that line is going down and assist as necessary
* Assist with color and product fixture changes
* Perform line shut down tasks
* Communicate with previous and following shifts' Extrusion Associates about product quality, problems, and status of work in progress
* Perform housekeeping duties as needed such as cleaning up of knock-out build up in MRF cutter
* Complete accurately and legibly all line packaging-related paperwork
* Notify Extrusion Associate 3 or 4 (Operators) of colored light alarm from Ink Jet Printer
* Punch time clock before and after shift to record time worked
* Observe health and safety practices when handling bacon strips
* Perform other related duties and assignments as required
* Maintain supplies at workstation
* Communicate with Material Handler(s) to move full warehouse racks
* Assist with training of temporaries and new hires in Extrusion Associate 1 positions

What You'll Do Day-To-Day
Performs basic equipment and tooling set up including calibration.
Basic parts preparation per SWIs/SOPs.
Performs basic assembly, cleaning, and fabrication operations.
May utilize forklifts, scales, calipers, x-ray machine, cutters, soldering gun, crimp tools, grinders and various small hand tools, etc. in the daily operation of job.
Accurately enter/scan completed production data into system.
Set up and perform the most common or routine dimensional and visual inspections in an assigned area.
Use a limited amount of inspection tools and gages as needed to perform duties and rejects/approves as needed.
Moves material and product in the work area by proper handling method.
Keeps work area and equipment clean and orderly.
May assist with minor equipment maintenance, repair and inspection, following detailed procedures, and report defects to supervision.
May perform basic operation of oven - load and unload non-uranium bearing material, perform preoperative checks prior to operation and during cycle.
During lull periods of production, may be required to travel to nuclear sites and/or other product centers.
Properly handles hazardous materials.
Performs job duties in a safe manner.
Promotes a safe and healthy workplace by following safety rules.
Utilizes the principles of Lean Manufacturing.
Work duties may require alternate shift assignments.

Report product or order issues that may delay processing to Lead and/or Production Supervisor.
Ensure all job ending totals match work order instructions prior to releasing order from machine.
Clear all left-over materials from machine after each order and prior to starting a new.
Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area at all times.
Notify Lead/Supervisor when assigned tasks are completed.
Avoid unnecessary down time
Complete and submit required daily paperwork.
Assist in other departments when necessary
Report any injury to immediate supervisor.
