Basic Function
The position of Production Operator is responsible for monitoring and operation of plant process equipment used in the manufacturing process. Monitor printed product for print quality to include barcodes, print placement, and streaking.
Troubleshoot machines seeking assistance in a timely manner to ensure efficient processing.
Report product or order issues that may delay processing to Lead and/or Production Supervisor and offer suggestions to ensure job standardization.
Ensure all job ending totals match work order instructions including DRS Summary prior to releasing order from machine.
Accurately complete and submit all required daily paperwork.
Clear all left-over materials from machine after each order and prior to starting a new.
Maintain a clean, safe and orderly work area at all times.
Notify Lead/Supervisor when assigned tasks are completed.
Avoid unnecessary down time.
Perform all daily machine maintenance.
Assist in other departments and perform other duties assigned.
Report any injury to immediate supervisor.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
12-hour shifts, availability to work either a rotating shift or straight night shift.

Machine Operator Night Shift

JOB DETAILS Base Pay: $25.25 per hour plus $1 per hour shift differential for night shift Shift: 6:45 PM-7:00 AM on a 2-2-3 Schedule Benefits Starting Day 1 Paid Time Off Weekly Pay DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Machine Operator is a training position through which Associates may advance to a machine operator. They will learn to operate extrusion lines and produce vinyl siding products and accessories: ensuring that extruder outputs are consistent with product specifications and that quality assurance standards are maintained by inspecting finished product for consistency.
Visually inspect extruded product for appearance and size defects according to specifications
Conduct recurrent tests/inspections of products' functional features (including, but not limited to, nail slot depth, weepholes, butt end channel locks, etc.)
Notify appropriate personnel (Extrusion Associate 3s and 4s, Manufacturing Shift Supervisor) of product defects
Assemble cartons for packaging
Ensure proper packing patterns, product counts, and package enclosures
Square, glue, seal and label (if necessary) the packed cartons
Transfer carton to finished product skid
Discard unacceptable panels in Scrap Rack
Identify product that is jammed up in production line and assist as necessary
Identify that line is going down and assist as necessary
Assist with color and product fixture changes
Perform line shut down tasks
Communicate with previous and following shifts' Extrusion Associates about product quality, problems, and status of work in progress
Perform housekeeping duties as needed such as cleaning up of knock-out build up in MRF cutter
Complete accurately and legibly all line packaging-related paperwork
Notify Extrusion Associate 3 or 4 (Operators) of colored light alarm from Ink Jet Printer
Verify operational status of all equipment on assigned line according to start-up check list
Maintain extruder and all peripheral line equipment settings (i.e., embosser, dies, MRF, Puller, Punches, weepholes, etc.) to produce outputs that are consistent with product specifications
Perform product, emboss roll, color die and water fixture changes
Assist in maintenance of equipment
Communicate with Maintenance Department and Production Supervisor about machine malfunctions
Assist with troubleshooting operational problems and adjust equipment to maintain consistency on the extrusion lines; inform QA Technician and Production Supervisor(s) of problems or inefficiencies that cannot be corrected
Assist with extruder machine output changeovers
Engage in and promote teamwork within work group to ensure efficient product flow and support
Learn to conduct a variety of line/panel checks to determine product consistency, including panel thickness, width, length, radius, hook, nail hems, perforation, and weep holes
Perform required quality, product, equipment, and gauge checks to ensure product specification are maintained
Learn to manage extrusion line performance through understanding of ratio of good pounds to salvage in order to make timely decisions regarding line status.
Maintain standard run conditions, notifying help when deviations may be required
Accurately performs pre-start checks of all equipment, gauges etc.
Perform housekeeping duties per 5 S standards
Monitor Extrusion Associate 1s and 2s (Inspector/Packer) to ensure consistency and quality of product packed
Complete accurately and legibly all extrusion, quality assurance and safety related paperwork
Refer to Production Schedule for color of product, product number and quantity to be produced
Locate Quality Assurance Specification from Lab to adhere to specifications for appropriate product
Develop communication skills so knowledge can be shared with previous and following shifts' Extrusion Associates about product quality, problems, and status of work in progress

Qualifications
Experience:
Must be able to perform the functions of a Production Associate 1 and 2 (Packer and Packer Trainer)
Knowledge:
Must be able to read, write and have working knowledge of machine mechanics. Must have good mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
Mental/Physical/Visual Demands:
Must possess common sense, positive attitude, and demonstrate excellent attendance. Must be quality and safety conscious, a team player. Must have good communication skills and the ability to interact with people. Must be detail oriented with ability to operate, read, and interpret test equipment/findings. Must have ability to learn to operate a computer and ten key. Needs ability to use and read calipers and micrometers to within one thousandth of an inch. Must be able to work quickly with product and be able to lift 86 pounds maximum, be able to lift with assistance 87 to 100 pounds, keep colors separate, and record weights accurately. Must have excellent manual dexterity.
Working Conditions:
Extensive standing, frequent bending, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, twisting and walking. Extreme weather conditions and conflicts over acceptable product quality possible.

Hearing protection, safety glasses, tape measure, sawing glove, hack saw, packing gloves, toolbox and contents, micrometers, calipers, and other PPE needed per SWI
