Key Responsibilities
Multi-step organic reactions in a plant environment (50 L to 400 L scale).
Running reactions/purifications according to batch sheet.
Modify batch sheets and other procedures as needed.
Collaborate effectively with variety of people with minimal supervision.
The position involves blending, measuring, and producing raw materials to manufacture industrial coatings.
You will work in a production environment with a high level of safety awareness and adhere to all appropriate safety procedures in place.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Production and scale experience in a similar plant or laboratory environment.
Chemical and manufacturing experience preferred.
Exposure to some inorganic and organic college chemistry lab experience preferred.
Mechanical aptitude and high level of safety awareness.

Perform operational tasks to meet project requirements, including forming, furnace and kiln loading/unloading, and maintain process equipment.

• Obtain cutting tools from tool room. Positions proper tools in tool turret. Changes cutting tools or inserts as required. Sets tool off-set in the CNC control as required

• Downloads proper programs in the CNC control for operation to be performed; Start program
• May operate lathe, mill, and roll grinder under semi-automatic control by manually entering code into control panel
• May operate controls to change program settings as required when excessive stock is encountered or for other dimensional variations
• Check finished machined dimensions and run out on turned surfaces as required
• Set up machine for various size rolls by moving and adjusting tailstock, adjusting headstock jaws, or setting up roller rest for plugging or boring operation as required
• Secures cutting tool inserts from Tool Room and positions the inserts into the proper toolholder or cutter
• Checks and records post hardened roll body/neck run out
• Machine test cut on end of neck and/or body to establish starting point and size

5+ years of Machine Operator experience is required
• Operates machine to predetermined specified speed and feeds
• Reports defects that occur during the machining of the roll or shaft
• Unloads machine, transfers piece to the storage pile or designated area
• Hooks and directs crane in transferring piece to storage area

Responsibilities
:
Prioritize, plan and prepare work. Analyze tasks and establish appropriate sequence of operations
Read prints & job orders for product specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances and machine set-up requirements
Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on machines
Set-up and safely operate various machining equipment such as manual and CNC lathes, mills, jig bores, and grinders in order to machine or grind components to customer specifications
Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors or enter commands to retrieve, input or edit computerized machine control media.
Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring devices (such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc..)

Candidates must be able to stand 8-10 hours per day, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

What You Will Be Doing:
Transport of materials including glass from one position/location to another in an effort to
expedite the production process
Read, understand and attach appropriate labels and tags to product
Match glass work orders with picking list.
Move glass from tables, furnace, rolling racks, delivery trucks, or wooden crates
Strap glass to the carts and or trucks so they are safe for moving.
Utilize a tape measure to ensure product is within the product specifications.
Quality inspection of glass, operation equipment and/or manually maneuvering equipment.
Skills You Bring:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to read a tape measure
Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. independently
Must be able to work overtime with flexible starting times in some departments.

Job Summary: To set up and operate Tape Controlled Lathe, Conventional Lathe, Post Mill or Milling Machine for production of rolls, shafts, etc.
Tools and Equipment: Tape Controlled Lathe, Conventional Lathe, Post Mill, Milling Machine, cutting tools, calipers, rules, micrometers, gauges, indicators, wrenches and other ordinary hand tools.
Working Procedures:
Receives numerical tape programs, work orders, prints and instructions from Foreman.
Locates work piece, hooks for and directs Crane man in positioning piece in machine and transferring finished piece from machine to storage. Turns roll end for end as required.
Sets up machine for various size rolls as required by adjusting tail stock, head stock jaws, roll clamping, v-blocks, roller rest, indicate or layout, insert proper tape in tape reader, profile attachment, etc.
Sets up and operates machine tools, adjusting stops, feeds and speeds, numerical tape controls, etc., for operations being machined.
Checks and records forging or roll dimensions, stock and run out. Compare with print dimensions.
May operate tape control lathe under semi-automatic control.
Performs attendant functions as required in observing process under tape control.
Performs straight and taper turning, boring, threading, facing, drilling, tapping, reaming, plugging and mill work, etc., to the required dimensional specifications and tolerances.
Uses calipers, micrometers, scales, gauges, etc., to check for finish sizes.
May position and tighten roll plug as required.
Sharpen own tools as required.
Cleans, lubricates, and makes minor adjustments or replacements to machine. May assist in repairs.
Remove chips from machine and maintains clean and orderly working area.
Requirements
Laborer Primary Function: Performs a variety of laborer duties for the plant.
Tools and Equipment: Wheelbarrow, shovel, broom, hooks, chains, cables, hammer, sledges, wrenches, air hammer, floor operated crane.
Materials: Various mill supplies, rolls, scrap, etc.
Working Procedures:
Performs general labor duties for the plant, such as remove scrap from machines using shovel and wheelbarrow or hooking for Crane man in cleaning pits and boxes
Uses wheelbarrow or crane service to transport or handle tools, shop supplies and lubricants. May operate pendant control crane to move product or material as directed
Uses wrench, bar and pins and sledge to assist in installing or removing center plugs as directed or mounting grinding wheels
Assists in tearing down, piling and transferring rolls as directed
Loads and unloads trucks, either manually or uses crane service as required and blocks rolls or material as directed. May occasionally weigh rolls as instructed
Uses solvent and rags to clean painted or greased rolls as directed
Occasionally may use air hammer to break concrete as directed
Performs plant janitor service. Shovels snow, sweeps and cleans walks and roadways
Performs other miscellaneous clean up or labor work as directed

What You'll Be Doing
* Monitor bottle indexing on conveyor systems through the filling process
* Monitor and document all Quality-related items (Hourly updates on production boards, Component verification to ensure correct product is produced, Bottle and label visual inspection for accurate packaging of product, verifying date code labeling correctness, Product verification, Weight checks on filled bottles)
* Strong communication skills regarding machine problems and quality requirements
* Ability to start and stop equipment and identify basic mechanical issues & adjust machine setups (Fillers, cappers, labelers, case packers, case erectors, palletizers)
* Follow all safety requirements including using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment - PPE (safety glasses, required footwear, hearing protection, hand protection, correct lifting methods, etc.)
* Support all changeover requirements of commodity products (changing caps, line clearance, assisting mechanics with changeovers)
* Make tank switches and understand & execute the valve change process

Responsibilities
Receives detailed instructions from supervision.
Received parts to be machined and detailed drawings.
Verifies that raw material, drawing and tooling are in agreement with work order book from which they perform work.
Obtains drawings, tools, and materials as needed. Rebuilds, adjusts, changes, grinds and modifies tools as required, while maintain department tool inventory.
Sets up machine by installing and adjusting tools, positioning and aligning fixtures, parts, clamps, setting feeds and speeds.
Submits pieces on machine.
Positions pieces on machine.
Performs various turning, boring, facing, milling, keyway machining, polishing, etc., operations as specified or required.
Uses measuring devices and ensures accuracy of measuring devices and gages as required.
Burrs and polishes all parts to a final finished condition using hand tools and any specialized machines. Deburrs parts as required.
Adjusts, changes and dresses tools as required.
Grinds non “T” number tools from blanks as required.
Keeps machine, tools and workplace clean and in proper place and checks gages, flow meters, coolant strength, air filters etc.
Reports defective material, equipment and tooling to appropriate management personnel.
Observes all safety rules
Reports production count, time and identifying data by use of data collecting machines.
Performs necessary operations to establish set up points, on parts being set up, in their own machining cell.
