Stands guard or walks about premises of organization or organization's property to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules. Directs patrons or employees and answers questions relative to location of organization's services. Accountable for maintaining the knowledge of policies and procedures including response to emergency situations. Maintains records and logs as assigned. Enforces all rules and regulations as required. A pay differential may be applied for armed security in this classification.
Must not have a criminal record.

Provides armed security and safety services in all areas of the hospital, hospital properties, and the hospital's off-campus sites as assigned. Creates and maintains a safe, secure environment for the hospital's patients, visitors, staff, and assets and to manage potentially violent, disruptive, hazardous, and emergency situations through preventative patrol, investigation, and complaint resolution. During the initial training period Officers will be trained to work at multiple care sites and rotated throughout those care sites during this period. After successful completion of the training and introductory period, Officers will be assigned to a care site based on department needs.

If hired on, the academy training will be for the first two weeks of employment. (Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8 hour shifts) Candidate must be able to commute to Columbus, Ohio for training for first two weeks. During the first two weeks you will be assigned your home caresite along with the shift and days of the week. You will be assigned your three 12 hour shifts which will be consistent throughout the time of hire. Candidate may be required to float to other care sites as operational needs dictate.

Candidate must have Valid state driver's license, Have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), Must provide proof of insurance, if applicable. High School Diploma or GED, OPOTC Private Security Twenty (20) Hours Firearms Certification or Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Certificate.
Minimum Qualifications:

High School or GED (Required) DL - Driver's License - Department of Motor Vehicles, OPOTC - Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission - Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission
OPOTC Private Security Twenty (20) Hours Firearms Certification or Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Certificate. Basic computer skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be mentally and physically capable to successfully complete training for, participate in, and maintain certification as applicable.

**Description:**

Protection Officers are responsible for maintaining the security and safety of the hospital and specifically their assigned post during their watch. Protection Officers must be vigilant of suspicious activities and persons taking appropriate actions in ensuring the safety and security of the hospital.

Protection Officers must have the mental and physical ability to stand for long periods of time, do extensive walking and climbing stairs. Protection Officers must also be able to write reports in a neat and legible manner. Although officers are usually assigned to one shift, they must be available to work all three shifts when needed. They must possess good people skills and be able to deal courteously with the public on a daily basis. They must be able to perform their essential job functions, to include daily patrols and functions without bias or discrimination. Must submit to fingerprinting, FBI and State criminal history checks and or/ background investigations.

Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital.

**What you will need:**

+ Must possess a valid driver's license.

+ Must be able to acquire a Special Police Officer Commission from the State of Maryland within one year of appointment

+ BLS certified preferred.

+ Protection Officers must have at least a high school diploma, GED or equivalent experience as a security officer (4 years).
