Constructs engineering samples and prototypes to specifications and requirements with direction from the Engineering team.Assists in organization of engineering build notes and documentation from all prototype builds. Supports Engineers in the creation of build documentation.Supports initial production builds and transition from engineering to production.Visually and/or dimensionally inspects parts and/or completed assemblies for conformance to specifications. Completes required Device History Records and other manufacturing documentation per Good Documented Practices (GDP). Minimum Education: High school graduate or equivalent.Minimum Experience: 3 years related work experience and/or 3-5 years light assembly experience in a regulated industry required; medical device experience preferred. Associate's degree or above with a minimum 0-3 years of experience.Special Skills: Ability to communication to learn from Engineers and to communicated issues with tools and instructions. Familiarity with microscopes and measuring devices required. Certification for industry specific assembly requirements Technical training in welding, material science, and one year related quality experience is a plus.Specialized Knowledge: Ability to read, comprehend and follow detailed instruction and/or available documentation. Must possess the ability to recognize obvious defects in workmanship. Demonstrates competency in multiple critical assembly processes. Demonstrate ability to be flexible; work independently and in a production-line setting and in multiple locations within the facility. Ability to work with a variety of equipment and instruments such as Hot boxes, Ovens, Split die bonders, Cath-Tip/tipping machines, Soldering irons, and Injection Molders. We are currently seeking a test technician to support the testing infrastructure needs of the battery cell team. You will work closely with engineers and senior technicians to support the rapidly expanding battery lab. The Role:Work with engineers and technicians to build and assemble test fixtures and wire harnesses Install, set up, and calibrate new test equipment Troubleshoot and resolve issues with testing equipment Organize and maintain the battery lab space, equipment, and inventory Help manage parts inventory and organization Proactively identify areas of improvement through equipment procurement and automation
Qualifications:A basic understanding of lithium-ion battery safety and electrical hazards Experience setting up and maintaining lab equipment (environmental chambers, power supplies, plumbing, pneumatics) Solid understanding of basic mechanical skills, machine shop tools, and safety Basic electrical knowledge/skill including fine pitch soldering Excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude Detail-oriented and comfort with online collaboration and documentation Clean and organized working style Ability to deliver consistently high-quality results when working on repetitive tasks Experience with MS Office

Job Description:

The Prototype Technician Specialist will drive process improvements within the department to increase effectiveness and productivity using data driven metrics.

The Day To Day...
Works closely with Engineering to drive the job requests to completion, documentation including BOMs, test procedures, assembly instructions, prints.Completes end of line test stand check sheet and safety checklists.Provides feedback to design teams on assembly instructions and creates preliminary work instructions when needed.Utilizes Solid Works to search build models, create master model lists, and design parts which may not be modeled yet.Produces reports on the status of tests, job progress, and machine inventory.Coordinates builds by procuring, organizing, and staging materials for prototypes as well as assembly line simulations and production trials.Acquires off the shelf parts. Expedites parts when needed. Proficient in the use of the AS400 system for parts requests, purchase orders and part management.Runs safety checks working with build, engineering, and test personnel, summarizes and compiles reports for the machine log. Tracks test units and communicates status to owners monthly. Scraps units and documents them in PDM. Decommissions units and documents them as scrapped in PDM if required.Assists testing group in setting up or running tests and running local field tests in Brillion.Coordinates and drives actions to improve efficiency and safety, using Lean methodologies and 6S disciplines Work with test engineers to develop test fixtures, automated test rigs, and provide test design input.Provides insights on how to create a rapid tool or die to help form prototype parts in short notice.Participates in design reviews and provides insights to manufacturing methods, cost reductions, and reliability improvements.

Associates Degree, Engineering Degree, or apprenticeship in fabrication trade preferred. 10 years of relevant design, test, parts management and coordination experience.CAD Design - Fixture development, tooling design, and test assemblies to be modeled using SolidWorks.Programming - Programing skills for computer-controlled manufacturing.Blueprint reading and understanding of BOM use.Strong measurement skills in the use of protractors, dial indicators and micrometers.
