About the role:
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for inspecting sheet metal parts, welded assemblies, and finished products to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, welding standards, and customer requirements. This role supports the manufacturing team by identifying nonconformities, ensuring corrective actions, and maintaining product quality throughout fabrication and welding processes.
Key responsibilities:
Perform dimensional inspections of sheet metal components using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measurement tools.
Conduct visual and dimensional weld inspections per AWS D1.1, ISO, or equivalent welding standards.
Verify weld quality, including size, length, penetration, porosity, cracks, undercut, and overall workmanship.
Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and weld symbols to ensure product conformity.
Perform in-process inspections during sheet metal fabrication (cutting, bending, stamping, drilling, assembly, etc.).
Inspect surface finishes, powder coating/painting, and other secondary processes
Document inspection results, prepare quality reports, and maintain records.
Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
Ensure inspection tools and gauges are calibrated and properly maintained.
Follow all company safety, ISO 9001, and quality system procedures.
Minium Qualifications:
High school diploma or technical certification required, associate degree in a technical field preferred.
2+ years of experience in quality inspection within a sheet metal fabrication or welding environment.
Experience with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM experience a plus).
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Good communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, spot welding) and common weld defects.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and weld symbols.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Possess the skills and knowledge to set up equipment, interpret specifications, conduct tests, evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and file reports. Other duties include, but are not limited to, knowledge of other NDT methods, the ability to develop test procedures with Level III approval, and possess basic knowledge of manufacturing and inspection technology.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides test and inspection verification for production parts and components to ensure all applicable drawing, requirements have been met.
Recommends or provides solutions for manufacturing and/or quality related problems.
Performs internal and external systems audits.
Performs first piece/first article inspections to validate mold set-up/configuration.
Provides source inspection when necessary.
Performs visual and dimensional verification of receiving, in-process and final inspection of parts and material.
Performs calibration functions.
Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Associate degree or equivalent years of experience
5-7 years experience in quality control.
Verifiable technical training in the following: non-destructive testing disciplines (MT, PT, VT & UT)
At least one or more years of experience in non-destructive testing disciplines (MT, PT, VT & UT)
Hold at least one technical certification such as ASQ, CQT, CQE, NACE, DSQR, SNT-TC-1A.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Mathematical and measurement computation skills applicable to the trade
Manage multiple tasks
Follow detailed instructions
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Use of a computer, phone and other office equipment, including copier/scanner, etc.
Prolonged standing and frequent walking.
Occasional sitting, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling.
Some repetitive activity.
Light to heavy physical effort may be required.
Lifting and moving up to 10 pounds frequently and in excess of 20 pounds occasionally; over 30 pounds with assistance).

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform repairs, assembly, dis-assembly and re-assembly of components using manual or mechanical tools per Work Instruction.
Understand the Production Flow process and the job responsibilities of the area
Use designated tools to protect the product from scratches, drops and other issues related to proper handling of the unit.
Ensure Work Instructions are followed for appropriate processing and provide input for optimization/improvements as necessary.
Receive, verify, inspect and control both compliant and non-compliant materials where applicable.
Follow quality standards defined in the work instruction.
Report immediately to Line Leader any incident that make put at risk product targets, quality of the product or employee safety or work labor environment.
Receive, control and store material (material kit for the Line or shipping) maintaining the proper inventory levels.
Work with scrap control and proper disposition.
Verify that any rejected unit is properly identified and taken to designated area ensuring that quantity, failed code and type of failure is clearly identified.
Inspect equipment and tools to identify any replacements, malfunctions and/or repairs and escalate to leaders for correction. This will include the quality of soldered components.
Ensure materials and equipment assigned are safeguarded and preserved/protected at all times.
Follow ESD required practices for testing and utilization of ESD straps and possibly protective clothing where applicable,
Use designated tools to perform the job and escalate to a leader when help is required, to eliminate the possibility of workmanship errors.
Comply with the Quality, Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health Management Systems and regulations.
Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area daily, according to 5S standards.
Comply with the annual mandatory training plan.
Other duties as assigned.
