Virginia Tech (VT) seeks to recruit an innovative physician-neuroscientist to its new Patient Research Center (PRC) at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC (FBRI - ************************* for a tenured or tenure-track faculty leadership position at the associate or full professor level. The PRC initiative has received substantial funding support to launch this major exciting new program. The successful physician-scientist candidate will preferably have both earned M.D and Ph.D. degrees and have completed clinical residency/fellowship in an appropriate sub-specialty from among disciplines including adult or child neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry or neuroradiology as well as have an extramurally funded research program that includes human patient based clinical research in either ambulatory, in-patient and/or remote tele-health settings. The Maternal Influence on Neurodevelopment (MIND) Lab at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC in Roanoke, VA, directed by Dr. Brittany Howell, aims to understand the biological pathways (e.g., specific breast milk components, the infant gut microbiome, etc.) through which mothers affect their infant's brain and behavioral development. We accomplish this by collecting several concurrent measures, including milk samples, infant fecal samples, measures of infant structural and functional brain development using MRI collected during natural sleep, as well as other functional neuroimaging methods in awake behaving infants, and behavioral measures including parent-report and direct assessment in the lab. The MIND Lab is seeking a Research Assistant that will be part of the HEALthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study at Virginia Tech. The research associate will: 1) Coordinate project logistics; 2) Conduct quantitative and qualitative research; 3) Analyze results; 4) Publish reports and peer-reviewed articles; 5) Communicate results through webinars, presentations, and workshops ; and 6) Be an active member of the Dayer Lab. The position requires travel to conduct and present on research. Required Qualifications * M.S. in occupational therapy or disability studies * Knowledge and experience in social science methods especially interviews and case studies. * Demonstrated skills in collaborating with others on teams to accomplish shared objectives. * Excellent communication skills and organizational skills. * Experience writing reports and peer-reviewed publications * Experience presenting in-person and via webinars and leading workshops. * Experience in project management or coordination Preferred Qualifications * Considerable experience studying and training others about accommodations for disabled people. * Experience communicating scientific results to state agencies staff and developing related resources. * Experience studying wildlife viewers * Trained as an Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator * Experience conducting field work.
