Initiates, monitors and maintains life support systems.
Monitors outcomes of various respiratory care procedures.
Establishes and maintains respiratory equipment par-level and required maintenance records.
Troubleshoots equipment malfunction.
Conducts quality assurance audits.
Conducts quality control monitoring. Provides routine clinical care, including ventilator checks, tracheostomy care, suctioning, resident evaluations, care plan development, respiratory medication delivery, supply changes, and equipment management.
Requirements:
Must be a certified Respiratory Therapist.
Licensed in the state.
Completion of a two-year accredited Respiratory Program.
Current CPR certification.

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and explaining procedures and equipment to patients while providing necessary education upon discharge.
Responsibilities
Conduct physician prescribed treatments operating various ventilatory equipment, both invasive and non-invasive.
Administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation using appropriate devices.
Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning using multiple methods.
Monitor patient oximetry and capnography and review chest x-rays to assess further evaluation needs.
Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist with respiratory care procedures according to policy.
Perform tracheostomy care and arterial punctures as required.
Record treatments and patient responses accurately on respiratory care records and patient charts.
Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians about patient therapy efficiency.
Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and perform necessary equipment maintenance.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Licensure and certification as required by state regulations and professional standards for respiratory therapists.
