JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Robotic Systems Engineer you will:

Develop new hardware for our autonomous outdoor robotics platform. Interface with our manufacturing partners to take our prototype design into mass production. Create complete documentation for robotic systems. The Robotics Engineer works with cross-functional Werres employees, project teams, customers, and suppliers to provide detailed product specifications for robotics equipment including AMR’s, AGV’s, and industrial robots including the specifications to support the final design solution. The process involves understanding the customer's goals and objectives and developing smart engineered solutions to meet these goals. Performance Objectives:

* Define, Plan, Implement and Support the mobile robotic and logistical automation equipment put in place in Werres customers warehouse and manufacturing facilities, including Process, Financial and Technical analysis.
* Program, integrate and troubleshoot AMRs from well-known Original Equipment Manufacturers.
* Evaluates program and project requirements, develops complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for a reliable production process.
* Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and rate estimates, identifies robotics, automation or technology recommendations and system integration for equipment and tooling.
* Conducts training for Production and Maintenance personnel.
* Vet new technology on a technical level to understand if it is ready to deploy into the facilities.
* Collaborate with existing digital manufacturing teams to serve up requested data for collection.

Requirements:

Title:
Systems Engineer - Robotics Systems

The candidate will be assigned to the Robotics Systems Group within the Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA), Robotics, and Crew Systems Division as a Flight Controller, Instructor, and/or Analyst for the Manipulator Support System (MSS) including the Mobile Transporter (MT), Space Station Remote Manipulator System (SSRMS) [Canada Arm 2], and Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator (SPDM) [Dexter] within the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) Flight Operations Directorate (FOD). This is one of the main robotics systems that supports the International Space Station Program. The candidate will train to perform robotics procedure development by designing robotics maneuvers supporting real-time operations. At the same time the candidate will pursue a certification for a Mission Control Center (MCC) console position and will then continue to higher level Flight Control, Instructor, or Analyst certifications based on the individual's interest and the group's needs. The candidate will interface with the NASA customer daily as well as many other engineering organizations and payload customers.

The Robotics (ROBO) team is responsible for all aspects of the operation and management of the MSS robotics system hardware and software. Additional duties require supporting meetings and concisely reporting results to team-members and management, writing system briefs and console procedures, developing MCC displays, console tools, cue cards, and making oral presentations. Shift work, including weekends and holidays, and the ability to support an irregular schedule will be required occasionally for real-time missions and simulations. Occasional domestic and international travel is also required.

Work & Experience Requirements:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (ABET), Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science. Minimum of 4 years previous experience working with robotics and/or rovers. The overall goal with this position is to allow the candidate to bring in their expertise to help improve our current operations. This candidate will also be relied on for their outside perspective and provide input for future space robotics programs. Specific experience with vision systems, pose estimation, and coding is highly desired. This position requires successful completion of a government background check before commencement of employment as well being able to pass a standard flight controller physical examination for console support.

The Candidate must have:

•knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to real-time operations
