Security system engineer job description

Must have a minimum of five (5) years recent experience in the direct performance of a major program, project, or activity relating to systems or network exploitation, Penetration Testing, Security Engineering, Exploit Development, or related fields.

Desired Experience:

• Prior experience working as part of a security team is highly desirable. Relevant computer, networking and security certifications are also highly desirable. Ideal candidate would have significant experience working as a penetration tester or functioning in a Red Team or CNO/CNE environment.

• Strong exploitation background, including prior work in hardware engineering, construction, testing, or installation

• Relevant experience working with Windows, Linux, OSX, Android, and iOS, especially related to exploitation or systems security.

• Experience with cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or other wireless technologies

• Prior experience in networking, to include network engineering, network architectures, traffic analysis or troubleshooting

• Theoretical or working knowledge of security exploit techniques

• Development skills, including Java Script, Python, PHP, or C

• Security Certifications, such as OSCP, OSCE, OSWE, OSWP, OSEE, CISSP, GSEC, GCIA, GCIH, GWAPT, GPEN, GAWN, GXPN

The Role:

The Electronic Security Systems Engineer is responsible for all security technology design on a wide range of commercial, educational, sports, entertainment, government, and infrastructure project types. This position will integrate with other Thornton Tomasetti security team members conducting Threat, Vulnerability, and Risk Assessments, as well as, physical security design and consulting and will include advising our clients through planning, design, and construction.

The Responsibilities:
Responsible for Electronic Security System design and consulting. The Candidate must integrate technical and system security requirements, including but not limited to Access Control, intrusion detection systems (IDS), video surveillance systems (VSS), and duress systems, into the overall security design drawings/models, using Revit.Write and maintain product specifications and technical reports summarizing results, recommended security solutions, risk mitigation measures, and transition to technology implementation.Coordinate directly with clients and other project team members.
The Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in technical/STEM discipline5 to 10 years of relevant work experience preferred Experience supporting DoD and/or Federal Government IT infrastructure, including IT infrastructure for Electronic Security Systems (ACS / IDS / VSS / Biometrics) is strongly preferred PSP certification preferred Excellent verbal and technical writing skills Self-motivated and team-oriented In-depth background in security technology and integration Capable of attaining a United States Security Clearance

This role assures all Information Systems (IS), Government desktops, and corporate network components, unclassified and classified, adhere to and are certified in accordance with the latest versions of guidance such as NAVSEA, DoN, DoD, US CYBERCOM, and other relevant guidance, such as DoD 8500 series, NAVSEAINST 5239.1, and DOD Inst. 5200.40.

Essential functions include:

• Provide technical assistance to the Government in assuring compliance with all policies, guidance, and recommendations stipulated and promulgated by the NSWCDD ISSM.
• Recommend and develop draft IA and system security procedures and practices, in accordance with the NSWCDD Information Assurance and Compliance Office standards, and administer approved procedures and practices.
• Identify security vulnerabilities and recommend corrective security measures for network access points.
• Perform daily physical inspections and document the inspection on the PDS daily report.
• Develop PDS Approval Request packages for new PDSs and update PDS Daily Inspection Procedures.
• Assist the Facilities Manager with facilities and infrastructure planning, Infrastructure Management Board planning and reporting, Facilities Tactical Group inspections and follow-through, Capital Improvement Program planning, and Basic Facilities Requirements (BFRs) as these BFRs address IT and network planning and build-out.

To qualify, you will need:

• DOD Secret Security Clearance- If you had a Secret clearance in the past 24 months, we may be able to reactivate it.
• A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in systems design, development and integration preferred.
• IAM Level II Certification (CASP+CE or CISSP or CISM or CAP or GSLC or CCISO)
• Knowledge of COTS networking infrastructure to include Ethernet, fiber optic, telephony cabling and wireless network technologies.
• Understanding of DoD Directive 8100.02, Committee on National Security Systems Advisory Memorandum (CNSSAM) TEMPEST/01-13, RED/BLACK Installation Guidance, and a general understanding of the DoD/DoN TEMPEST program.
• Be able to conduct physical inspections to ensure compliance with Red/Black separation requirements and provide suggested remedies.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
