The hours are Monday - Friday 8:00-5:00

Responsible for performing a variety of highly skilled and confidential administrative activities related to closing due diligence, document preparation, review and retention of all legal documents and required information necessary for commercial lending transactions, including new loans and/or modifications of existing credit facilities with an increased level of complexity. Responsible for accurately performing pre-closing and post-closing duties that require an expanded level of commercial lending and loan documentation knowledge in a multi-state environment and supports management in daily operations as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Uses an expanded knowledge of commercial lending and loan documentation, to ensure timely and accurate completion of commercial lending transactions by performing a pre-closing secondary quality review of staff's work and/or monitors post-closing collateral perfection activities. Responsible for monitoring pre-closing loans in process and post-closing functions as assigned.
  • Responsible for efficiently performing highly skilled and confidential commercial lending functions in a timely manner to support Commercial Banking. Responsible to adhere and independently stay informed of all, banking regulations, regulatory compliance requirements and ensure compliance with established corporate policies and commercial lending procedures. May assist less experienced staff members with more complex transactions and/or address questions.
  • Responsible for providing and delivering high quality work to all Commercial Banking team members and customers with a particular emphasis on operational excellence. Proactively identifies issues that could potentially delay or prevent closings, notifying the appropriate parties, and working to resolve such issues in a practical, efficient manner. Responsible for commercial documentation preparation and document review to ensure accuracy and completeness of all transactions by conducting a self-review of work completed to ensure accuracy of the settlement package
  • Works independently and effectively manages and prioritizes a high volume of work as assigned. Able to understand complex loan structures, complex collateral and work with in-house counsel to resolve legal issues with limited guidance. Maintains the ability to analyze, problem solve and recognize when independent decisions can be made and remaining aware of when to involve higher supervisory or management level staff.
  • Accurately follows established internal operating procedures to perform a wide variety of commercial lending administrative functions, including but not limited to, loan party and collateral due diligence, effective coordination with other support and compliance teams, complete documentation requirements and deliver high quality work to commercial sales team members for loan closings.
  • Able to independently respond to requests needing a quick turnaround time and accurately processes a greater volume of time sensitive and more complex transactions without guidance from the Team Leader or other experienced staff member
  • Serves as a resource for bank lenders by providing advice and information regarding all loan types to guide in properly documenting commercial loans and answering inquiries that may require further research.
Qualifications Education

Associate Degree or the equivalent experience in related course of study (Required)

Bachelor Degree or the equivalent experience in Business, Finance, Legal (Preferred)

Required Experience

6 or more years in financial services

2 or more years commercial banking documentation experience or paralegal certification

Who You are:

  • Expertise in loan documentation preparation and review, including review of all associated entity documents.
  • Make recommendations to management to ensure loans are documented with the appropriate covenants, correct structures, and ensure compliance with regulations and state law as well as enforceability.
  • Extensive experience on Finastra LaserPro documentation system.
  • Proficient in title review, including underlying documents to determine acceptable exceptions to title policies as well as appropriate endorsement to ensure priority lien position.
  • Ensure accurate creation and filing of UCC financing statements. Draw forbearance documents and other legal documents under the guidance of SFCU legal counsel. Prepare re-conveyance documents.
  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in commercial loan documentation preparation and review
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent from a four (4) year college or university

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide a due diligence review on loan packages to ensure that loans are documented and funded based on the approved Credit Memo, SFCU policies & procedures, and NCUA regulations.
  • Manage and expand relationships with title and escrow to coordinate loan closings within time constraints of purchase contracts and loan pay-offs.
  • Process loan deposit checks and wires and prepare disbursement checks related to SFCU fees.
  • Process and fund loans in a timely manner, including reconciliation of loan disbursements, wires, review and approval of funding conditions, balance general ledger accounts, assemble loan closing files in accordance with procedures and upload into nCino. Accurately board loans onto core system.
  • Maintain proactive communication internal communication with lending staff, department manager, and VP Commercial Lending.
  • Clear assigned post-closing conditions.
  • Maintain and update loan documentation templates to include LaserPro updates. Assist in training new loan staff members.
  • Prepare and board loans as needed.
