The Senior PL/SQL Developer (Time & Attendance Solutions) is responsible for implementing Time and Attendance solutions into client environments. This position will utilize the defined implementation process from requirements gathering and documentation through customization development, testing, and migration into multiple environments. The incumbent works in a complex technical environment requiring a multi-product solution (Time & Attendance, Human Resources, and Payroll, for example), as well as product integration and/or custom solutions. Responsible for the reliability of all scheduled jobs between the aforementioned multi-product solution. Time & Attendance system performance and functionality will also be a top priority ensuring 24x7 application software/hardware availability in support of mission-critical business requirements, i.e., running payroll.
Essential Functions



Strategy & Planning


Work with management to generate quarterly work plans. Participate in recommendations of improvements to existing technical processes. Research tools and technologies and identify those that can best help serve the needs of clients. Research and implement related tools to improve the development process. Provide recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Recommend system changes and enhancements for continuous improvement.


Development & Deployment


Accept service requests received from the user community and assigned by management. Gather requirements from the user community, fellow developers, and system documentation. Review design with users, development staff, support staff, and management for adherence to all requirements and completeness in solving the user problems at hand, as well as supportability, maintainability, user understandability, and utility. Plan and test application and database changes, installation of upgrades, patches, and new versions, and interact with Development, Business Process Owners, and Infrastructure teams. Work with cross-project and T&A Global Support Teams to resolve functional
performance/operational issues. Provide advanced T&A Application functional and technical support. Create test plans, test cases, and test scripts, and performs functional testing. Work with existing systems to track and manage requests and issues. Use Oracle PL/SQL coding for maintaining inter-product interfaces. Troubleshoot failures in scheduled jobs using BMC and Oracle Concurrent Manager. Analyze, design, develop, test, and deploy: System configuration, Labor Level Sets, Rounding and Punch interpretation rules, Schedule shifts, and patterns, Pay code distribution tables, Work rules and Pay rules, Combination, and Hidden Pay Codes WIM (Workforce Integration Manager) Interfaces experience Customized Hyperfinds, Reports, detail, and roll-up Genies Accrual Rules and Policies Advanced Scheduler, Forecasting, and Analytics modules. Create and maintain system and user documentation. Submit and conduct peer reviews of designs and implemented solutions. Submit proper requests and documentation for the software release. Provide user support for new software implementations.


Operational Management


Complete Continuous Improvement projects as needed. Accurately report hours spent on a project in a timely fashion. Participate in design reviews and testing as needed. Assist users with problems and resolve issues independently. Assist with occasional daytime support as needed, assisting users and resolving issues. Update system and user documentation whenever required. Work with existing systems to track and manage requests and issues. Provide business reports to management and clients. Assist fellow developers in problem resolution, support, and development. Stay appraised of relevant software and technology trends, making recommendations to the team.


Safeguard Continuous System Availability


Respond immediately to reports of system error, outage, or instability Support efforts to update and upgrade systems as necessary to maintain integrity.


Incidental Functions


Assist with projects as may be required to contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the work. Attend management meetings on behalf of the team. Keep track of time spent on projects in an accurate and timely fashion. Assist with the effort estimation for new projects. Participate in after-hours on-call support Up to 10% travel as required (domestic and international) Work outside the standard office 7.5 hour work day may be required.


Position Requirements



Formal Education & Certification


Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in a Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology field of study (e.g., Information Technology, Electronics, and Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Systems Management, Mathematics) or equivalent experience.


Knowledge & Experience


5+ years of IT experience 5+ years of Oracle PL/SQL experience. Significant experience solving complex problems using PL/SQL. Working knowledge of software development and support methodologies. Demonstrated skill in requirements gathering, project management, analysis, and preparation and maintenance of work documents. Understanding of essential business functions to translate business requirements into system configurations. Intermediate/Advanced knowledge and use of Microsoft Office products. Demonstrated ability to research complex issues, develop plans for correcting data, and ability to communicate mitigation plans to all involved parties. Experience with DBMS concepts creating and modifying live and materialized views.


Preferred Experience


5+ years of advanced Kronos experience or equivalent application with the configuration of pay policies, schedules/schedule groups, system configuration, and accruals. Advanced Scheduler and Forecaster for Retail environment. 5+ years of Workforce Integration Manager (WIM) Interface configuration for updating Kronos and extracting data. 5+ years of experience primarily with Kronos Workforce Central Applications/Modules V6 or higher, some experience with Version 7 or 8, and experience with widgets and navigators. Otherwise, 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a Time and Attendance system.
