This is a full-time, permanent position for Boston University, in the Research Administration team within Information Services & Technology. The Senior Programmer Analyst works as part of a team to provide proactive problem solving and efficient Research Administration service management processes such as service request, enhancement fulfillment, incident response, problem management, and the service sustainability and continuity. They will also keep track of performance and quality control plans in order to identify areas for improvement. The platforms and languages used for development vary.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Analyzing, designing, improving, deploying, and supporting the University Research Administration applications, services, and interfaces.

+ Optimally resolves applications defects and problems by conducting a detailed analysis of the system and employing appropriate debugging techniques.

+ Assists in the development of SQL queries, tables, functions, procedures, packages, and triggers, which contributes to the overall success of the database management system.

+ Collaborate with management to prioritize business and information requirements.

+ Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.

Required Skills

+ A Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, business, or a related field is required, Master's Degree preferred.

2. Analyze data sources; define, analyze and validate data objects; identify the relationship among data objects.

3. Deliver data singularity by integrating data shared across legacy, new development, and purchased package environments.

4. Develop and modify functions, programs, routines, and stored procedures to export, transform, and load data.

5. Validate data integrity by documenting operational procedures and data connections.

6. Understand and use SQL databases (Structured Query Language), and utilize JSON (Java Script Object Notation) as well as APIs (Application Programming Interface).

7. Monitor and process inbound and outbound data files leveraging available tools and reporting.

8. Improve data integration by investigating and supporting new data interchange formats, standards, and procedures.

9. Update job knowledge by tracking new strategies and technologies; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.

10. Perform other duties as assigned.
