The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) has multiple temporary vacancies available for a Trades Worker II position in the Park Service Area and Landscape area of the Arlington Parks and Natural Resources Division. This employee participates in park maintenance and driving a landscape watering truck within a specified geographic Neighborhood Service Area or at the direction of the area supervisor(s). This position works individually or with a team engaged in refuse collection, basic horticultural functions, street tree watering, park maintenance, and enhancement projects.
Minimum:
The ability to follow basic written and verbal instructions, learn how to safely operate hand and power tools, and learn a variety of skills related to park maintenance, grounds maintenance, and construction.
Desirable: Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
Operating backpack leaf blowers, string trimmers, and other 2 cycle equipment;
Working with and general knowledge of hand tools;
6 months of park maintenance experience;
Class A or B Commercial Driver's License; and/or
Ability to read maps

Driver's License: Applicant must possess, or obtain by time of appointment, a valid driver's license, and must provide or authorize Arlington County to obtain a copy of official driving record. As an Inventory Collection Associate Contractor, you will be responsible for capturing high-quality retail data by visiting stores near you and collecting product prices via a free Apple or Android Smartphone App. This role works autonomously in the field.
Primary Tasks:
Visit designated stores near you to complete in-store product price checks via an app that will allow our clients to gain insight into retail pricing.
Collect specific items from a pre-planned location near you any time during regular store business hours.
Job Type: Independent Contractor:
Timeframe: Opportunities to complete price checks each week/month on a flexible schedule that works for you, during regular store business hours. We are looking for auditors interested in regular, long-term availability to participate.
Locations: We have opportunities nationwide.
Time Commitment: You can do as many of these in your area as you want, so work as often or as little as you'd like!
Pay: Estimated rate of pay is up to approx. $15-25+ per hour. On average, approx. 100-200 items can be price checked in one hour.
Gig is paid when all required items have been collected, and hourly rate estimate increases over time with experience. The more items you check, the more $$ you can earn!
Hours: Flexible. We have programs that accommodate a variety of schedules. From 1 hour per week, to 8 or more hours per week!

Non-Competitive Rehire Eligibility: Temporary seasonal employees can only maintain their non-competitive rehire eligibility if they work no more than a combined total of Temporary NTE less than 1040 hours anywhere in the National Park Service (NPS) within their established service year. Accordingly, non-competitive rehire eligibility allows for re-appointment to the same position or another position appropriate for temporary appointment with the same qualification requirements (5 CFR 316.402[b][7]), based on series and grade, anywhere in the major subdivision (NPS).

Physical Demands: Exerts moderately heavy physical effort, occasionally lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds (about 23 kilograms); frequently lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects up to 40 pounds (18 kilograms), and frequently pushing heavy objects such as furniture on dollies and various artwork, artifacts, etc.
Working Conditions: Outside work is usually performed under all kinds of weather conditions. Indoor work is often accomplished in office buildings or in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas such as warehouses, loading docks, or trade shops. Frequently exposed to weather and temperature extremes, drafts, noise, dust, and dirt and the possibility of bruises, muscle strains, cuts and scrapes. Work requires the employee to follow proper safety procedures and use standard safety equipment such as gloves, ear protectors, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes to avoid possible hazards in the work area.
