Provides advice and guidance to complete complex projects. May assist supervisor with project budget oversight. Responds to customer service requests and responds to all maintenance, fire systems and emergency calls. Assists the supervisor with work team issues including safety compliance and training, workflow planning and day-to-day administration. Remains familiar with and follows all federal, state and local safety and environmental laws and regulations. Fulfills responsibilities by specialized technical and skilled trade: Preventive/Predictive Maintenance: Serves as team lead responsible for preventive and predictive maintenance and repair. Structural: Serves as team lead responsible for carpentry, masonry, painting, and lock work as related to facility maintenance and developing solutions to issues. Electrical: Serves as team lead responsible for preventive and predictive electrical facility infrastructure maintenance and repair. Plumbing: Serves as team lead responsible for plumbing, refrigeration and mechanical systems as they relate to facility maintenance. HVAC and HVAC Operations: Serves as team leader responsible for HVAC and HVAC Controls maintenance and controls. Maintains digitally-controlled building management system (BMS); programs BMS software and software devices to accommodate new equipment, hardware, processors or alteration of existing equipment. Responds to customer service requests and responds to all maintenance, fire systems and emergency calls. Tests water systems, life safety systems and administers chemical treatment programs. Cabling: Serve as a liaison between Corporate Real Estate (CRE), Property Operations and Infrastructure and Operations (I&O) focused on infrastructure, cabling, building codes and standard compliance. Responsible for delivering cabling and fiber projects, including, but not limited to BAS cabling upgrades, MDF build-outs for cable and fiber, fiber backbone upgrades, lab consolidations, computer room upgrades and wireless access point installations. May perform other responsibilities as assigned. Reporting Relationships: Reports to Supervisor or Manager. May lead project teams during operations or maintenance. Typical Skills and Experiences: Education: Associate of science degree, certificate from technical school or successful completion of Department of Labor-approved training program or equivalent. License/Certification/Designation: Associates must acquire the required federal and/or state licenses and registrations within the time designated by the business unit. Additional licenses and registrations may be required when new products and services are implemented. If an associate fails or is unable to obtain required licenses and registrations within the designated time period, the associate will be ineligible to continue in the position and employment may end. As a Fire Protection Engineering Consultant, you will be responsible for customer-facing project work. This key position works closely with AHJ'S and clients to ensure projects are compliant and being completed as expected. The right candidate for this position can meet the required deadlines and communicate effectively with customers and jurisdictional authorities. Must be organized, detail oriented, highly motivated and able to work independently and efficiently from home Responsibilities Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Responsible for collaborating with engineering and/or design on specific projects, delivering effective and cost-efficient alternatives and solutions for the Develop and deliver reports to clients on recommended updates to ensure compliance and /or operational functionality of fire, suppression and/or life safety systems Provide code and standard references, as well as document research, reports and interpretations for fire protection Meet with jurisdiction authorities and clients as needed to resolve compliance questions Continuously review, and maintain a working knowledge of, changing codes, standards, industry specifications and practices to ensure Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: Bachelor's degree or a combination of equivalent experience and nationally recognized certification(s) Have passed the EIT Examination, and able to sit for Professional Engineering examination within 4- years Ability to travel 50-75% - Mainly US/Canada - Varies monthly - Travel typically M-F for week-long trips but average is 2-3 day trips to site locations. Authorization to work in the United States Due to project locations and travel requirements, candidates need to be within 1 hour of a major US airport. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: Working knowledge of Fire, Life Safety and Building Codes and NFPA Standards Field engineering/consulting experience in fire protection Experience with or knowledge of passive fire protection Ability to manage time and meet deadlines and budgets Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Working competency with MS Office & MS Project software NV5 offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including medical, dental, life insurance, PTO, 401(k) and professional development/advancement opportunities.
