To be considered, candidates must be willing to travel up to 100% of the time to various locations across the US during clinical rotations. Nightingale faculty are required to work all three 15-week semesters (spring, summer, fall). Clinical rotations take place during at least 11 of these weeks. Position Summary: The Travel Nurse Clinical Instructor (internally referred to as Assistant Professor, Nursing Education) facilitates on-ground education instruction by incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies, and other industry trends reflecting advancements in the discipline by promoting an interdisciplinary approach to advanced practice nursing education and healthcare delivery within and outside the College. The incumbent will be accountable for delivering the nursing curriculum in accordance with the Program's mission, vision, values, and purposes. The Assistant Professor will engage with learners in all aspects of the nursing education process, including evaluating the potential for achievement in the program, and is accountable for Nursing Education Services' successful attainment of key performance indicators, program and functional outcomes, and the success of the College's mission. The Assistant Professor functions as a valued team member within the nursing faculty. Role and Responsibilities: Facilitates learning in the various supervised on-ground focused education (SOFE) sites, including clinical, simulation, or skills labs across the United States. Responsible for teaching and evaluating learners in the Practical Nursing, Baccalaureate, and Master's Degree Nursing Programs. Monitors, engages, and maintains open communication with learners in all aspects of the nursing education process, including attendance, performance, comprehension, and evaluation in accordance with course outcomes, and submits required reports according to published deadlines. Adheres to and holds learners accountable for partner facilities' expectations. Attends nursing faculty meetings, participates in committees, engages in shared decision-making, and other faculty activities as required. May be assigned to various modalities, including experiential, didactic, evaluations, and NCLEX coaching based on the needs of the College. May carry additional teaching load outside of primary assignment. Participates in the successful implementation of other functional projects as they arise. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Education Requirements: Earned Graduate degree with a major in nursing from an accredited institution supplemented by 0-1 year of relevant experience. Active, unencumbered RN or APRN license from state of residence and ability to obtain RN and NP licensure in any jurisdiction required by the College, including a valid multi-state license. Either has an earned Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential or commits to obtaining this certification within a one-year period. Maintains current knowledge in multiple areas of nursing practice. Two (2) years of experience in clinical nursing, within the past five (5) years. Two (2) years of experience supervising clinical education activities preferred. Maintains immunizations and certification records as required by accreditation, facility, or state board of nursing. Additional Contributions: Annual Professional Development, Service as SME, Service on Committees, and learner load will be congruent with current faculty matrix for the assigned course(s). One (1) year of experience in delivery of Concept-Based Nursing Education is preferred. One (1) year of distance education experience preferred. Physical Requirements: The Nursing faculty assigned to clinical instruction must be able to perform the following essential physical functions, with or without reasonable accommodation: Stand and walk for prolonged periods during clinical instruction (up to 12 hours). The Surgical Tech Educator provides comprehensive clinical education for surgical technologist caregivers and students across perioperative patient care areas, including orientation for new hires and internal transfers. This role promotes caregiver growth and development through in-services, instruction and varied teaching methodologies while setting clear standards and expectations through professional conduct, integrity and strong work ethic. The educator collaborates closely with perioperative education team members and leadership on educational initiatives, serves as a clinical resource by disseminating current evidence-based practices and research and supports innovative improvements in perioperative systems. The position also assists perioperative educators with clinical education for registered nurses and provides surgical technologist education across all Northeast Ohio sites, traveling between locations as needed to support system-wide initiatives and ensure consistent, high-quality perioperative education. A caregiver in this role will work full, 8hr days from 7:00am to 3:30am. A caregiver who excels in this role will: * Design, direct, implement and evaluates educational offerings based on the knowledge, skills, and learning levels of caregivers. * Collaborates with nursing managers to plan and implement orientation for new hires. * Identify learning needs and goals of caregivers. * May assist in the interview process for new caregivers. * Develop and utilize appropriate evaluations to determine the effectiveness of educational activities. * Assist in the development of department-specific orientation and competencies. * Coordinate continuing education, training programs, and caregivers' development. * Consult with individuals within the Nursing Institute, Surgical Operations, Infection Prevention, Cleveland Clinic, and the community regarding professional practices and caregiver roles. * Lead enterprise initiatives related to process improvement and problem resolution. * Collaborate with nursing management to identify clinical activities which facilitate professional growth of surgical technology caregivers and scrub nurses. * Serve as a resource person for identified perioperative projects. * Participate in and leads work teams related to process improvement or problem resolution. * Advocate for caregiver training components of new strategic initiatives pertinent to the clinical area. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: * Bachelor's degree in business administration, Finance, Communications, Healthcare Administration, or related field and two years' experience OR Associate's degree and four years of related experience which may substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement * Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross * Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through the Associate of Surgical Technologists required Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: * Preceptor (training) or lead technician experience Physical Requirements: * Requires full range of motion; manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. * Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. * Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range. * Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids. * Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. * Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
