The School of Education seeks University supervisors for teacher candidates in certification programs. We encourage those to apply, who hold dual certification in elementary/PK-4 and special education, as well as secondary content areas.
The number of part-time instructors hired varies, from semester to semester, depending upon the needs of the department. While there may not be immediate openings, the hiring manager will review applications when openings do occur. Individuals may need to instruct courses online or in-person.
Arcadia's School of Education offers undergraduate programs in elementary and secondary education, as well as a Master of Arts in Education, Master of Education, and Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership. Through cohesive programs based on meaningful, mentored fieldwork, students are molded into gifted teachers and educational leaders.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions:
- Observe and assess performance of teacher candidates
- Act as a liaison between the Office of School and Community Collaborations, the teacher candidate, the mentor teacher and site administrators
- Conduct on-campus seminars with supervision cohort
- Problem solve issues arising in the field
- Maintain accurate records as required by the School of Education and PDE
- Attend required meetings for supervisors prior to and during the fall/spring semesters
Marginal Functions:
- Basic knowledge of Canvas, the course platform
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the Danielson Framework for Teaching
- Current knowledge of pedagogy and assessment in the area of certification
- Current knowledge of state and national standards in the area of certification
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree, preferred
- Five years of successful K-12 classroom teaching experience.
- Experience as a cooperating teacher, preferred
- Previous experience supervising teacher candidates a plus
Other Requirements:
- Hold PA teacher certification; Priority given to candidates dually certified in Elementary and Special Education. Seeking also Secondary Content and Art Education Certification holders.
- PA required clearances.
- Access to reliable transportation and/or valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel to schools throughout the Greater Delaware Valley
