Palmetto Bluff is nestled along the May River in the Lowcountry of South Carolina between Hilton Head Island and Savannah. As an award winning 20,000 acre development, the development encompasses a private member’s only club which includes a marina, restaurants, an equestrian center, a shooting club, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, a lawn and racquet club, and more. In addition, Palmetto Bluff has an extensive nature preserve, walking trails, retail shopping, and a vibrant village, all which pay homage to the region’s rich heritage.

The 173-acre Equestrian Center is located in the center of a unique community in the South Carolina low country. Stable Attendants will provide exceptional customer service and care to members, guests, and horses while promoting a fun, productive and safe environment for all.
Essential Functions:


The Stable Attendant (Groom) will provide top quality care and customer service for horses and clients of Longfield Stables Ensure standards of safety are upheld and adhered to at all times by employees, guests and clients of Longfield Stables. Meet or exceed client expectations with regard to horse care, upkeep of facilities, and customer service. Daily cleaning of barns, pastures and facilities. Feeding and watering horses. Daily horse care (grooming, turnout, bringing horses in from pasture, tacking and untacking for etc.). Monitoring of turnout areas for safety and cleanliness; assistance with event set up. Weekly stocking of supplies.

Qualifications:


1 years working in an equine/equestrian facility with similar duties and requirements; Minimum 2 years hands-on horse experience High school education or equivalent preferred Prior knowledge of horses and equine behavior required Knowledge of basic horse health, first aid and nutrition Knowledge of farm machinery such as tractors and equipment preferred Effective communication skills required Ability to multi-task and be detail oriented Good problem solving abilities Excellent horse husbandry and horse handling skills Must be able to remain calm, think clearly and act quickly and effectively in emergency situations

Physical Requirements:


Position involves walking, sitting, standing and/or movement throughout the day. Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying and moving objects that can weigh up to 100 lbs. Position may involve riding, exercising and lunging of horses. Required to perform job in all types of weather conditions.
