The movie Urban Cowboy came out in 1980, and of course people were impressed by John Travolta’s dance moves.
1989 – Step by Step – The 1st professional step company was founded by Vernon Jackson aka Doc Genesis and Jimmy Hamilton aka Step Master J inside their college dorm room.
In 1993, vast changes were sweeping across Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
In September 1994, 15 countries across Central Europe and Eurasia started to implement Step by Step’s learn-through-play program, offering children and parents child-centered learning environments.
2007 – Sole Stepping: African American Step Shows by Elizabeth C. Fine.
2018 – Launch of the 1st Stepping Mobile App Game: The Art of Stepping available on Itunes and Play Store
2020 – WOS Virtual Competition launched as the 1st ever international step competition and convention week dedicated to step.
Until December 2021, Sarah Klaus was a senior program advisor at the Open Society Foundations.
