What You'll Do
As a Sterile Processing Tech 1, you will directly contribute to LifeLink's life-saving mission.
Under direct supervision, following established standards and procedures perform routine duties necessary for the proper function of the Central Service department. General responsibilities include, but are not limited to, cleaning, wrapping, sterilization, storage and distribution of instruments and/or supplies utilized by the Procurement and Processing department.
Key Responsibilities:
To assist with handling and set up equipment and supplies to be processed by Central Services.
Maintaining inventory par levels for Central Services in order to properly supply Processing and Procurement department needs.
Maintain and fill solution carts as needed.
Receive deliveries and place supplies in proper locations within Central Services as necessary.
Attend continuing education courses to retain certification as it relates to the Central Service Department.
Receive, clean and decontaminate surgical instruments and/or equipment as necessary.
Perform daily monitoring and maintenance of sterilization equipment.
Sterilize instruments, equipment, linen and supplies using steam sterilizers. Load the sterilizers appropriately.
Complete the appropriate manual documentation and electronic records prior to the sterilization process.
Perform Quality Control for the sterilizers to verify that all requirements for sterilization have been met.
Stocks case carts to ensure all items are accounted for and available for Processing.

Working Conditions:
Work requires extended hours during peak processing and or procurement periods. Working environment temperatures may vary from 68 degrees F to 80 degrees F. Hazardous conditions include, but are not limited to, the exposure to blood and/or body fluids from potentially infected donors and the potential of obtaining cuts and or punctures to skin from sharp instruments.

Job Summary The Sterile Processing Technician III has advanced knowledge of the function of surgical instrumentation during the course of patient care. Responsibilities Essential Functions Works directly with Surgery Clinical staff and managers to assess, troubleshoot and make recommendations for all trauma and tertiary care surgical procedures. Demonstrates, through clinical practice, knowledge, and a clear understanding of the entire sterilization process, including infection control, instrument functional quality control, sterility maintenance, and aseptic technique. Has high professional and ethical standards that are employed in making critical decisions in every aspect of the sterilization process. The Sterile Processing Technician III is resource and mentor for the SP team and for the surgical clinical team. Assumes lead role in the absence of Manager and/or Coordinator. Participates in distribution of instrument trays for surgical case carts according to the requirements of the surgery schedule, pick lists and surgeon's preference cards. Demonstrates through practice a clear understanding of the instrumentation utilized during surgical procedures. Responsible for daily record keeping and chemical, mechanical, & biological monitoring relative to sterilization processes. Conducts orientation of new team members. Works as the patient's advocate regarding the most correct and safest form of sterilization for all patient care instrumentation and equipment. Assures that through specific infection control procedures a safe environment is maintained. Determines the best method of processing ever changing, highly technical tertiary patient care instrumentation and equipment. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Works independently in all areas. He or she participates in all unit quality control activities and makes recommendations for process improvement activities. Completes special projects, without supervision, as assigned by departmental leadership. Demonstrates an understanding of the relationship of their role to patient care.
