Ensures coordinated and timely delivery of reprocessed items to clinical stakeholders within the health care organization. Ensures local facility sterilization and High Level Disinfection (HLD) functions comply with all regulatory requirements. Supervises SPD personnel and serves as liaison between SPD and other departments. Maintains effective interdepartmental relationships, coordinates and resolves problems, and ensures cooperation with other programs and services. Maintains aseptic technique throughout all phases of work. * Assembles instruments and supplies on table and mayo stand. * Performs counts with the circulating nurse. * Assists in the draping of the operative site. * Assists surgeon and scrub nurse; anticipates and supplies the needs of the surgeon with instruments, sutures and sponges throughout the procedure. * Assumes responsibility for the identification and maintenance of specimens after release from the surgeon until release to the circulating nurse.
