Gurwin Jewish Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is a renowned healthcare provider located on Long Island, NY which offers a full continuum of services. The Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is a 460 bed facility providing services for short-term rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing care, home care programs, an adult day health program, ventilator dependent care, palliative and hospice care, a new Memory Care Unit and on-site dialysis. The Gurwin Family of Services also includes the 201-apartment Gurwin Jewish ~ Fay J. Lindner assisted living community, and the Fountaingate Gardens independent living community on the Commack campus.

Our innovative facility and growing services offer opportunities to advance your career. We are currently seeking a full time, Stores and Receiving clerk/technician who will embody the passion and commitment required to deliver the ultimate care for our residents.

Requirements include:

  • High school diploma or equivalency. Valid NYS Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record. Prior Stores & Receiving preferred
  • Lifting, bending squatting, pushing and pulling. May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold in all weather conditions.
  • Occasional holiday/weekend coverage is required.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Receive and dispense all materials, supplies and equipment delivered to the Gurwin Center. Maintain inventory control inside the storeroom, in both of the oxygen tank storage rooms and on all Nursing floors, as required.
  • Responsible for all incoming deliveries received at the Gurwin Center, except for supplies ordered and delivered for the Dietary and Pharmacy Departments.
  • Maintain accurate delivery receipts.
  • Maintain accurate records for the storage of resident belongings.
  • Maintain inventory par levels on all Nursing Units.
  • Prepare and deliver all departmental requisitions.
  • Maintain oxygen room; delivery and monitor usage for each Nursing Unit.
  • Stock and rotate all supplies on storeroom shelves.
  • Maintain a clean and neat working environment; sweep and move pallets on appropriate days.
  • Keep all shelves neat with all box top flaps cut, all supplies kept in appropriate places as labeled.
  • Demonstrates an attitude of cooperation and professionalism when dealing with peers, and supervisors.
  • Assists in the transportation of residents, as appropriate.
  • Adheres to all aspects of Customer Service, some examples include the following:
  • Working together, showing empathy, courteous communication, respect for others.

As the DSD (Direct Store Delivery) Receiving Clerk, you will receive merchandise from outside vendors and ensures proper check-in, inventory, and/or credit. **What will you be doing?**

+ You will build rapport with customers.

+ Display a friendly and outgoing attitude through good eye contact and body language.

+ Receives direct store delivery products such as soda, chips, alcohol, etc. Checks invoices for accuracy, resolves discrepancies, and assesses product for damage.

+ Reduce shrink levels by ensuring credit is received from damaged, returned, and out-of-date products.

+ Checks inventory on trucks, unloads products, and ensures accuracy of inventory, product ordering, and associated paperwork.

+ Monitors vendor activity by ensuring products are stocked correctly and advising vendors of necessary actions such as cleaning shelves and designated backroom areas.

+ Advises department managers of issues regarding vendor or product problems.

+ Monitors inventory levels, and reports supply and demand inconsistencies.

+ Provides friendly and customer service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions, and responding to customer complaints.

+ Maintains clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to Company safety procedures.

+ Help customers with any questions they may have. If you aren't able to answer their question, you will direct them to another team member who can.

+ Stock product and maintain displays according to merchandising standards.

+ Utilize technology to complete activities and tasks.
